The Cultural Pass Challenge, created in 2014 by Louisville Metro government and Vision Louisville, returns again this year with The Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts on board. Along with other culture and arts partners, The Kentucky Center will help keep children learning and exploring during the summer months with special access to programs and exhibits.

The Kentucky Center is participating by offering a series of events over the summer, including the Kentucky Center Concert Series (Tuesdays in June, 5-7pm); The Family Fun Film Series - Louisville Film Society and The Kentucky Center Present Family Film Night on the Belvedere (6/24; 7/8; 7/29 and 8/12 at 8pm), as well as an international Art Collection Tour (6/10; 6/17; 7/15; 7/22 at 10am).

The pass, a collaboration between Metro Government, The Gheens Foundation, The Ford Fund and 30 cultural partners to emphasize the importance of arts education, admits one child/student (ages 0 through college) to a diverse range of area attractions. If the child/student is under the age of 16, one parent or guardian is also admitted.

The Cultural Pass is one of several strategies designed to help prevent summer learning loss and to keep students engaged in educational activities. It debuted in the summer of 2014 and over its first two years, more than 102,000 passes were distributed to Louisville's youth community. Other participating partners include Actor's Theatre of Louisville, The Kentucky Science Center, The Louisville Youth Choir and the Speed Art Museum, among others. Children and parents can pick up a pass (a punch card) from their local Louisville Free Public Library Branch. The passes are valid from June 5 to August 6. A kickoff event, The Arts and Cultural Attractions Arts and Culture Day, will take place on June 5 at the Brown-Forman Ampitheater at Waterfront Park from 11-3pm.
