Hollywood Chamber Orchestra presents Grammy-award winning conductor Lucas Richman and 13-year-old piano prodigy Yuze Lee who will both make their Walt Disney Concert Hall debut on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 8:00pm. The evening will feature the award-winning Orchestra and Lee's rendition of Rossini’s Overture to the Barber of Seville, Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G Major, and Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No.1. Drawing inspiration from legendary composers such as Rachmaninoff, Beethoven, and Chopin, Lee's performance promises to take audiences on a captivating journey through the romantic era of classical music. Walt Disney Concert Hall is located at 111 South Grand Avenue, Los Angeles, CA, 90012. Tickets cost $79.50-$139.50 (+ booking fee) each and are available for purchase at the Music Center website: https://www.musiccenter.org/tickets-free-events/lease-events/pianist-yuze-lee

Conductor/composer Lucas Richman has served as Music Director for the Bangor Symphony Orchestra since 2010 and held the position as Music Director for the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra from 2003-2015. Over the course of nearly four decades on the podium, he has garnered an international reputation for his graceful musical leadership in the diverse world of music and media. In concert halls, orchestral pits, and recording studios around the world, Richman earns rave reviews for his artful collaborations with artists in both the classical and commercial music arenas.

Born with a prodigious talent, Yuze Lee began his musical journey at an exceptionally young age. His innate mastery of the piano revealed itself when he began to replicate the melodies of his brother's drumming. From that moment, a profound love for music was born, and Lee's dedication to the piano has only deepened with time.

A virtuosic performer, Lee is a true devotee of the classical romantic era. Drawing inspiration from legendary pianists and composers such as Sergei Rachmaninoff, Ludwig Van Beethoven, and Frederic Chopin, Lee's musical artistry is a reflection of the profound depth and raw emotion of this iconic epoch.

Lee has studied with the renowned concert pianist Susan Starr, and with the 2nd prize winner of the 1962 Tchaikovsky Competition, Dr. Jenny Chen, herself a talented prodigy who was accepted at Curtis Institute of Music at the age of ten. With the help of Steinway Hall of Fame inductee Dr. Mingyi Gao, Lee's musical expertise has led to appearances on some of the most prestigious stages around the globe from Singapore, to Italy, and the U.S., winning multiple awards and mesmerizing audiences with his superlative piano skill and technical mastery.

The dedication to his craft doesn’t keep Lee from enjoying a variety of hobbies and outdoor activities, and he counts hiking, swimming, and solving Rubik's cubes among his favorite recreations.

"Yuze Lee is a remarkably talented young pianist whose playing is a vibrant tapestry of colors. His fingers effortlessly combine technical prowess with a rich expression of musicality and dynamic range, making him a shining star in the world of piano music," said Jerome Lowenthal, award-winning classical pianist who has served as chair of the piano department at the Juilliard School in New York and is a distinguished faculty emeritus at Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara, California.
