Do you want to know a secret -- Billy J Kramer is keeping the flame of the Mersey sound alive!
Billy J Kramer with Legends of British Rock is performing at the Landmark on Main in Port Washington, NY on May 7th at 3 pm. Tickets are available at www.landmarkonmainstreet.org or Eventbrite.
Kramer crossed the pond in the Beatles' wave of the 1960s along with legendary groups - The Dave Clark Five, Herman's Hermits, Gerry and the Pacemakers, the Animals, the Hollies, the Yardbirds, and the Rolling Stones.
Kramer with The Dakotas "Do You Want to Know a Secret?" was a number two UK Singles Chart hit in 1963 and was backed by another tune otherwise unreleased by The Beatles, "I'll Be on My Way". After this impressive breakthrough series of songs specially written for him by John Lennon and Paul McCartney launched him into stardom and a proper place in the history of Rock and Roll. Managed by The Beatles’ Brian Epstein, Kramer spent a lot of time with the band and went on to record several original Lennon – McCartney songs with his band the Dakotas, including 1964's Top Ten hit “Bad To Me.” I'll Keep You Satisfied, From A Window, and I Call Your Name, all became international million sellers for Billy, and won him appearances on the TV shows Shindig!, Hullabaloo and The Ed Sullivan Show.
Success followed with other Top 10 hits - "The Cruel Sea", "Magic Carpet", and “Little Children". Over the years, Kramer has performed with various artists celebrating the Mersey Sounds. In 2012, Kramer went back into the studio for the first time in years to record a new CD — I Won the Fight — which was released in 2013. The CD featured some new songs written by Kramer.
Kramer’s 2023 concert brings to life that same vibrancy of the sixties and music of the British Invasion that has stood the test of time! The show also brings to life the pages of his recent autobiography. His rags-to-riches story, from his working-class childhood in Liverpool to the racy world of international pop music. Kramer gives a definitive insider's account of the birth of the Liverpool sound and the British Invasion of the USA.
Opening Artists for Kramer is The British Legends Rock Show, who will pay tribute to the British music of the ‘60s & the 70's from the Animals to Led Zeppelin and everything in between! If you love British Rock and love to learn more about the British Invasion this is one show you don't want to miss! Get your tickets at www.landmarkonmainstreet.org
