The Long Beach International Film Festival (LBIFF) celebrates being back in-person for FREE film screenings on the beach, as well as the annual Chefs & Shorts five-course, wine-paired dinner, where films inspire the fare. Festival-goers will meet filmmakers, chefs, producers and local business owners, all while enjoying the sights and sounds of the City of Long Beach, one of two cities on Long Island.

Taking place from July 27 through 30 in Long Beach, New York, the Festival will screen an international slate of over 40 films, including feature-length narrative, documentary, short and animated that will compete for a series of Jury Awards. Enjoy FREE, live screenings on the beach in front of the Allegria Hotel (80 West Broadway, Long Beach) nightly at sunset, just bring a lawn chair and blanket. Tickets are free, pre-registration is required at www.longbeachfilm.com. Below is an overview of the lineup of events and films.

Wednesday, July 27 - 6pm at the Regal Lynbrook theater is the opening night screening of IT AIN'T OVER: a feature documentary that explores the life of baseball giant Yogi Berra, who was simultaneously revered for his sportsmanship and reduced to a caricature for his personal antics. The film's executive producer Lindsay Berra is Yogi's granddaughter.

Thursday, July 28 - Film shorts will be screened during the day at the Long Beach Library, and at night, the annual Chefs & Shorts wine-paired dinner takes place in the ballroom of the Allegria Hotel. This chef-driven ticketed event features a five-course meal with each course inspired by a short film. The film is played, and the course is served, as the chef explains how the film inspired the fare.

Friday, July 29 - There's something for everyone across all three film screening venues: Regal Lynbrook theater, Long Beach Library and Beach Theater, including films about Adam Sandler, Mickey Mouse and our most precious resource: the ocean. Check the schedule here.

Saturday, July 30 - Live music begins at 7pm on the beach at the Allegria Hotel, with Shorts on the Beach beginning at sunset. Reserve your FREE spot online, grab a beach chair or towel and enjoy short films at the beachfront theater, build specifically for the Long Beach International Film Festival.

Partnering with the Nassau County Industrial Development Agency (IDA) has helped grow the Long Beach International Film Festival (LBIFF) through the years as Nassau County increasingly develops into the prime film shoot destination it is today. Home to television shows, movies, documentary films and more, Long Island has the people, places, scenery and studios to rival Los Angeles as the film capital of the country.

ABOUT LBIFF

The Long Beach International Film Festival began in late summer 2012 and showcased nine short films and documentaries during the inaugural event. In October 2012, Hurricane Sandy struck Long Beach, flooding and destroying the city's only movie theater, and jeopardizing the future of the film festival. But the show must go on! With the help and grant money from Nassau County, the LBIFF was able to host a successful 2013 season, and has continued to do so each year, including presenting a virtual festival during the course of the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2022 festival will screen an international slate of over 40 films, including feature-length narrative, documentary, short, animated and student films.
