Ticket Services Representative:
Seeking courteous and professional customer service-oriented individuals to work in the Box Office as a Ticket Services Representative. This role will focus on providing exemplary customer service to all patrons of the Performing Arts Center of Suffolk County (The Gateway) by performing ticket services and customer assistance both over the phone, via email, and in person all while working in a fun, collaborative, and professional environment. Must possess strong customer service skills, excellent verbal communication skills, and a professional phone manner. Experience with computers and the arts is preferred. Box Office knowledge is a plus! Works closely with and supervised by the Box Office Manager/House Manager.
What are the Duties and Responsibilities of the Ticket Services Representative:
- To deal with any customer service issues that may occur, either in person, on the phone, or via email, in a professional manner.
- Sell tickets, season subscriptions, and gift certificates, as well as, enroll and take payment for acting school classes in person at the box office window and over the phone.
- Determine and collect appropriate fees, guide patron decisions, and issue tickets.
- Process and be responsible for all cash, check, and card transactions handled.
- Welcome positive and negative feedback about the venue and pass this on via the Box Office Manager/House Manager, to help The Gateway improve the service it offers.
- Ensure that The Gateway policies regarding ticketing and building use are upheld.
- Provide customer service to patrons with ticketing issues, including lost, stolen, or damaged tickets.
- Ensure the ticketing systems records are maintained and accurate.
- Answer Box Office telephone calls, voicemails, and emails and respond to customer questions regarding events, and ticket issues, assist patrons in finding seat locations on seating diagrams, and assist patrons in navigating The Gateway’s online services.
- Be well-versed and current on all offerings by The Gateway.
- Learn and operate the AudienceView ticketing system.
- Be responsible for the opening and closing of the Box Office, ensure the security of the Box Office is maintained, and maintain cleanliness inside the Box Office.
- Support House Manager during performances as instructed (i.e. distribute tickets, help stuff playbills, scan tickets, assist patrons, etc) by the House Manager and/or Box Office Manager.
- Must be willing to work and travel to all Box Office locations.
- Support the administrational needs of other departments, within reason, and under the instruction of the Box Office Manager/House Manager.
- All other duties as assigned.
What the Ticket Services Representative needs to have:
- Must be in compliance with our company's COVID Policy, such as being fully vaccinated and boosted; as well as wearing a mask.
- A high school degree or GED is required.
- One year of customer service, ticket sales, and/or clerical-related work experience.
- Experience working with a large volume of sales and various transaction methods is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word and Excel and other related computer skills required.
- Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.
- Strong organizational skills, time management skills, and attention to detail are required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on business writing skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects.
- A friendly and approachable personality with an ability to establish rapport with others and build strong interpersonal relationships.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, be self-directed, and demonstrate initiative. Yet also possess a strong sense of team and the ability to work collaboratively with others
- Exhibit good judgment and decision-making skills including diplomatic, and negotiating skills with the ability to work with initiative and maturity.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends and be on-call as necessary based on the changing priorities of the company.
- Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays.
- Computerized ticketing experience - especially in AudienceView - is preferred but not necessary. (We are willing to train the right candidate.)
Physical requirements:
- Ability to stand and move around the office and theatre for extended periods of time as needed.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
Compensation:
Full-Time or Part-Time Hours Available
$17 p/hour. Plus complimentary tickets to performances and events.
This position does not offer employee health benefits. Housing is NOT provided.
