Required Qualifications: (As evidenced by an attached resume)

Bachelor's Degree (foreign equivalent or higher). In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, an Associate’s Degree (foreign equivalent or higher) and two (2) years of work experience in performing arts may be considered. Two (2) years of work experience in performing arts. Proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office suite.



Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Theater. Three or more years of work experience in performing arts. Experience managing student and professional stagehands. Comprehensive understanding and performance operation of current theatrical systems and programs, including the following:



Digital audio consoles (i.e. Soundcraft, Yamaha, Digidesign, Behringer).

Audio equipment, including wireless microphone systems set-up and operation.

Qlab.

Experience with lighting design, installation, and lighting focus.

ETC EOS family of lighting consoles and software to include the programming of conventional, LED, and moving lights.

Lightwright and Vectorworks.

Theatrical and cinematic projection equipment and technology (i.e., Panasonic and Christie).

Theatrical carpentry.

Single purchase counterweight fly system.

VenueOps or other Event Management Software

Brief Description of Duties:

The successful candidate will be a vital member of the Production Department at the Staller Center for the Arts, reporting to the Production Manager. The Technical Manager will directly operate and oversee theatrical equipment, events, and production requirements in the Main Stage (1000+ seat concert hall/proscenium theater), Recital Hall (375+ seat concert venue), and the Paul W. Zuccaire Gallery. This position requires a high level of knowledge of current theatrical audio, lighting, and video systems and the experience and ability to set up, operate and maintain them daily. The Technical Manager will be responsible for the operation, implementation, and technical coordination of all assigned productions and/or events, supervision and training of student and professional stagehands, and other production-related duties as assigned. This position will most often work under the leadership of the technical directors or assistant production managers, but also occasionally run their own shows. The Technical Manager should have the following qualities:

Duties:



Operation of the audio, lighting, video, scenic, and rigging systems as assigned for performances.

Operation of digital cinema projectors for all film screenings, Met Opera, and projected events.

Supervise the installation, set-up, and removal of audio, lighting, video, scenic and rigging elements for productions and events.

Manage productions, events, and performances as assigned in the Main Stage and Recital Hall.

Communicate with the front-of-house manager and staff to ensure a successful performance.

Collaborate with artist/client management and/or technical staff to ensure that all needs and requests are accommodated within facility capabilities, budgets, labor agreements, and policies.

Collaborate with students, faculty, and staff to support successful campus events and productions.

Implement and coordinate lighting & production needs for the Paul Zuccaire Gallery.

Train and supervise student and professional crew on all theatrical equipment and maintenance best practices with a strong emphasis on safety.

Train and supervise student and professional crew on supporting performances, rehearsals, and events.

Participate in ongoing internal systems upgrades and management of production equipment, including pianos, stage equipment, inventory, etc.

Work collaboratively with the Production Manager to identify maintenance projects and execute those identified.

In collaboration with the production team, coordinate stagehand schedules and work assignments.

Prepare and submit stagehand times sheets for all assigned events.

Maintain the security and safety of performance facilities and support spaces.

Enforce safety standards and preventive maintenance programs.

Provide strategic input to optimize the technical operations and recommendations for future facility improvements and equipment purchases.

Research and execute special projects as assigned.

Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.

Special Notes:

This is a full time appointment. FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.



Evening and weekend work may be required at times.



Must be capable of climbing three flights of stairs frequently and occasionally work on the theater grid above the stage. Must be capable of communicating by phone with clients as well as in person. Must be capable of frequently lifting material up to 30 pounds and occasionally 50 pounds.
