GULFSHORE PLAYHOUSE SEEKS SUMMER EDUCATION PROGRAMS DIRECTOR

Gulfshore Playhouse, a not-for-profit, professional theatre company located in Naples, Florida, is seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented and organized individual to serve as Director of our summer production of Frozen Jr. and Teen Cabaret. This individual will have the opportunity to work and rehearse with students ages 8-18 beginning June 6th, 2022 through July 20th, 2022.



Gulfshore Playhouse Education offers a range of after-school classes and summer theatre camp programs to students of all ages. These thoroughly enriching programs give students the chance to receive training in acting, voice, and movement from theatre professionals. Through a wide-range of summer theatre camp and after-school class programs, Gulfshore Playhouse Education is a place where every child can fit in and stand out, growing not only as performers, but as people.



Status: Summer seasonal position

Dates: June 6th, 2022 – July 20th, 2022



Representative Duties:



• Direct and stage Frozen Jr. for students ages 8-13 and direct and stage the one-night only Teen Cabaret for ages 13-18.

• Work alongside the Director of Education, Choreographer, Music Director, and other Gulfshore Playhouse staff

• Attend all rehearsals, previews, and performances, along with being involved with the morning workshops

• Attend all pre-production and production meetings, and work with production on staging, sound, lighting, costumes

• Regularly meet and consult with Producing Artistic Director, Production Manager, Designers, Managing Director, Stage Managers, and such other personnel as may be designated by producer

• Maintain professional relationships with students, parents, production staff, and Gulfshore Playhouse team



The ideal candidate is a strong, team-spirited self-starter who is excited to join a tireless, rapidly-growing, and attitude-forward regional theatre. Candidates should be friendly, excellent with patrons, staff, and students alike, and possess excellent communication and organizational skills. The Playhouse values hard work, kindness, generosity, passion, and grace-under-pressure.



Qualifications:



• 18 years or older

• Holds a BA or BFA in Theatre, Musical Theatre, Performing Arts, etc.

• Three to five years of directing experience

• Experience in theatre, theatre education, teaching, and outreach and engagement

• A passion for theatre, theatre education and outreach

• Flexibility and easy adaptability to sudden or new changes

• Outstanding written and verbal communication and organizational skills

• Strong Leadership, time management, and multitasking skills

• Understanding others, and having empathy for students and staff

• Transportation provided for those traveling from out of state

• Ability to give clear instructions and make decisions

Tech Rehearsal:

Monday-Wednesday

June 20th-June 22nd

9:00AM-4:00PM



Performances:

Thursday, June 23rd @ 7:30PM

Friday, June 24th @ 2:00PM and 7:30PM





TEEN CABARET



Regular/Rehearsal Hours:

Monday-Friday

June 27th-July 20th

9:00AM-4:00PM



Tech Rehearsal:

Wednesday June 20th

9:00AM-12:00PM



Performances:

Wednesday, July 20th @ 7:30PM



*Must be available for all those dates Monday-Friday + performances



Contract Includes:



Paid stipend.



Furnished housing with a private bedroom and shared living space, internet and cable is available.
