HOURS:
February 5 - May 3, 2024: 5-10 hrs per week
May 6, 2024 - June 2, 2024: (5) Day work week averaging 40 hrs
June 3, 2024 - August 30, 2024: (6) Day work week averaging 55 hrs
COMPENSATION: $23.00-$25.00; Overtime (time and a half) after 48 hrs worked.

We are looking for a seasonal SOUND & VIDEO SUPERVISOR to join the Production Department and work closely with/report directly to the Director of Technical Production. The Sound & Video Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the support of the A/V needs of all productions and special events during the festival season. They supervise and collaborate with two Audio Engineers and a Video Engineer, as well as a rotation of Production Interns to provide this support while working closely with the Production Managers and other Department Heads to advance all upcoming activities. The Sound & Video Supervisor is responsible for the maintenance and use of all audio and video equipment and will participate in the training of Production Staff and Interns on its safe and proper use.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain a safe, healthy, and accessible work environment at all times.
- Actively participate in communication with visiting companies to ensure clear communication about The Pillow’s facilities and equipment, as well as to assess any additional equipment or labor that will be needed to execute each company’s vision.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all Audio and Video related vendors.
- Assist in the creation of full-season and production-specific rental orders.
- Supervise the audio and video engineers and ensure they have the support, equipment, and information necessary to be successful.
- Supervise Seasonal Production Staff and Interns in their specific duties and offer advice and guidance towards the completion of the assigned tasks.
- Actively participate in the training and mentorship of the Production Intern Cohort, including teaching hands-on and practical classes and workshops.
- Advise the DoTP on any necessary improvements to The Pillow’s Sound & Video infrastructure and equipment.
- Supervise the installation of all audio and video systems across campus, including in the theaters, studios, dining facilities, and informational kiosks.
- Maintain departmental and production-specific budgets, paperwork, and schedules as needed.
- Oversee the creation of any necessary paperwork.
- Remain in constant communication with all Production Managers to ensure proper and necessary support for each production or event.
- Assist the Production Administrator in the scheduling of Seasonal Production Staff, Interns, and overhire.
- Actively participate in work calls, technical rehearsals, or performances as needed, including by acting as an audio or video engineer for TST, HJL, or Events.
- Actively participate in the planning and execution of seasonal opening and closing of the Festival's performance spaces, studios, exhibition spaces, and temporary tents.
- Coordinate with the Jacob’s Pillow Media Team to ensure they have access to the necessary production systems and equipment to be able to successfully record productions and events.
- Under the general direction of the DoTP, assist with the coordination of emergency response for staff and patrons in the event of an emergency or extreme weather.
- Completion of Adult/Child CPR, First Aid, and Cultural Competence Training (provided to all seasonal staff during the pre-season).
- Assist other departments, including non-production departments, as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 4 years of related experience in Audio or Video departmental management.
- Advanced knowledge and the ability to instruct others on theatrical audio and video systems.
- Proficiency with Google App suite as well as industry-standard audio and video applications such as Isadora, Qlab, Watchout, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve.
- Knowledge of production-related health and safety best practices and concerns and ability to identify and correct potential hazards.
- Ability to work proactively, creatively, flexibly, and collaboratively.
- Willingness to learn.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION
- Valid driver’s license.
- Experience driving trucks up to 26’.
- Knowledge of dance or the performing arts industry.
- Experience working and/or teaching in a performing arts educational environment.
- Experience with budgeting and scheduling.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Working regularly in wooded areas with exposure to native wildlife, including, but not limited to, rodents, ticks, and mosquitos.
- Working regularly outdoors in all weather conditions, including inclement weather.
- Working a 6-day work week, including early mornings, late evenings, and weekends.
- Moving equipment up to 50lbs alone or with assistance.
- Moving through and between multiple locations throughout the entire campus.
- Remaining in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
- Working at heights above 6 feet and up to 30 feet.
- Ascending and descending straight and step ladders
- Operating push-around or drivable person lifts, including at heights
- Working in show conditions with theatrical and atmospheric elements, including but not limited to fog, haze, strobes, dim lights, and loud sounds.
