Program Assistant
NAMT is seeking a full-time, salaried Program Assistant to join our full-time staff of six. The Program Assistant reports to the New Works Director and the Member Services Director and is will be a vital part of the NAMT team, focusing on our core programs, including Conferences, the Festival, Roundtables, new musical development and member services.
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
New Works/Festival
Assist the New Works Director on the management of the Festival, including program creation, correspondence, invoicing and event planning
Participate with other NAMT team members in running Festival and other events
Line Produce concerts and cabarets with New Works Director
Process and follow up on submissions to the Festival of New Musicals and other new works programs
Assist in the planning of committee meetings
Granting Programs
Process and prepare applications for the Frank Young Fund for New Musicals and Innovation & Exploration Fund
Track check requests and final reports
Assist in the planning and running of panel meetings
Conferences/Roundtables
Help administer registration for Conferences, Roundtables and Festivals
Participate with other NAMT team members in running Conferences, Roundtables and other events (some travel required, expenses paid)
Membership/Communications
Assist in programming and hosting Knowledge Exchange webinar series
Assist with database and website management/maintenance as assigned
Edit videos from concerts and conferences for posting online
Contribute content to NAMT’s website and social media
Assist with administration of surveys and other member services as assigned
Assist with press releases, email newsletters and other communications as assigned
This is a full-time salaried position open immediately. It is ideal for someone developing a career in theatre administration or producing. Starting salary will be in mid-30s, commensurate with experience, with excellent benefits. As of this posting the NAMT staff is working onsite in our Manhattan office, but some flexibility is possible and interviews may be conducted either in person or on Zoom.
Job requirements
Required:
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage a multi-faceted workflow
Strong proofing skills for written communications
Exceptional organization skills and an eye for details
A love and knowledge of musical theatre
At least one year professional experience with administrative responsibilities
Preferred:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office or equivalent
Photoshop or Illustrator
iMovie or similar
Website editing/content management system
Database/ticketing/CRM software
General knowledge of the business of theatre and regional theatres
Specific skills for this position can be taught, as long as the candidate has an affinity for systems and a love of musical theatre, and demonstrates an attention to detail and eagerness to learn.
