Powerhouse Theater seeks staff positions for the 2024 Powerhouse Season. Now in its 38th season, Vassar College partners with various artists and theater institutions to produce a summer season of new plays and musicals on its campus in Poughkeepsie, NY. Simultaneously, the Powerhouse Theater Training Program is in session, providing 40+ aspiring theater professionals a chance to immerse themselves in acting, directing and playwriting. Positions generally run from mid-June to August 1. Salary, 3 meals/day and free on-campus housing provided.

- Lighting Supervisor
- Lighting Technician

- Training Program Stage Manager (non-union)

For five weeks every summer the Powerhouse Theater Program comes to life on the Vassar College campus to provide a nurturing environment in which passionate theater lovers from students to professional practitioners and audience members learn from one another. The Powerhouse Theater Training Program provides aspiring theater professionals a chance to immerse themselves in acting, directing, and playwriting. The program’s Training Company also offers free performances throughout the season. Since 1985, the Powerhouse Program has brought developmental productions, workshops of plays and musicals, and readings of works-in-progress to the Vassar campus. Together with our adventurous partners, students, and dedicated audiences, we create a crucial community – one that gives time, space and voice to artists of the American theater. Nearly 30 projects developed recently by Powerhouse have had or will soon have major productions including the 2016 Tony Award-winners Hamilton by Lin-Manuel Miranda and The Humans by Stephen Karam, as well as: Doubt by John Patrick Shanley (Broadway), The Notebook by Ingrid Michaelson and Bekah Brunstetter (Broadway), The Wolves by Sarah DeLappe and Junk by Ayad Akhtar (Lincoln Center Theater); Diana, by Joe DiPietro and David Bryan (Broadway), Sanctuary City, Martyna Majok (New York Theatre Workshop); Head Over Heels by The Go Gos, Jeff Whitty and James Magruder (Broadway), A 24-Decade History of Popular Music by Taylor Mac (St. Ann’s Warehouse & International Tour); The Homecoming Queen by Ngozi Anyanwu and The Great Leap by Lauren Yee (Atlantic Theater Company); etc.
