Hello! New Plays for Young Audiences (NPYA) is pleased to announce that our 2022 series will be in-person at the historic Provincetown Playhouse this June 2022. The development series takes place over the course of three weeks with a new script and cast each week of development. The work is approximately 30 hours in total in the evenings and on the weekends (two Sundays, one Saturday) for each week. Actors will be paid $250 (per script/week of development). We are a non-Equity program, as noted in our auditions notice below. We are looking for about 30 actors with diverse backgrounds and experiences. The third week’s script is a musical.
Sincerely,
Teresa A. Fisher, PhD
Producer
New Plays for Young Audiences is holding auditions for its June 2022 series! The series (rehearsals and rehearsed readings) take place in the historic Provincetown Playhouse in the heart of Greenwich Village just a half block from Washington Square Park (133 MacDougal Street).
Auditions will be held on a rolling basis online between April 18-May 6, 2022. Actors will be asked to provide a link to a 1-3 minute recorded monologue, headshot, resume, and, if auditioning for the musical, to include singing several bars of a song that showcases their range with the monologue recording. Actors submit their materials here (https://forms.gle/eWnWvqoc95ZorxiM7). Actors will receive a modest $250 stipend for their participation (per script they are cast in). Actors may audition for one, two, or all three scripts. We are a non-Equity program.
Please note that actors will need to follow NYU’s COVID-19 guidelines to participate. See here for more information (https://www.nyu.edu/life/safety-health-wellness/coronavirus-information.html).
Each week of the series is devoted to a different script. The first week runs 6/5-6/12 (Soundscapes by Claudia Haas and Sarah Kraning). The second week is 6/12-6/19 (Sheela and the Amazons by ChelseaDee Harrison). Week three runs 6/19-6/26 (Keys by Roxanne Schroeder-Arce, composed by Jenn Hartmann Luck). Rehearsals during the week of development are 6-10 p.m., generally Sunday through Friday and on Saturday between 12-10pm. Each week culminates in one or two rehearsed readings, which are most likely on Saturday at 3 or 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m.
