The Operations & Community Programs Coordinator works closely with the Director of Operations & Community Programs to plan and execute the NJSO’s statewide touring chamber music program (Community Partners), handling a wide range of administrative and on-site event management duties. This role also involves managing relationships with a wide range of clients.
Currently, all NJSO employees work remotely for day-to-day activity. However, some in-person work is required of this position for rehearsals, performances and related community events, in compliance with the NJSO’s COVID Safety Plan. Once it is safe to do so, regular presence will be required in the office as well as in the field.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides administrative and operations support of the Community Partners (CP) program through duties including but not limited to the following:
-Plan, schedule and manage CP event logistics including preparation of call sheets, maintenance of program calendar and proofing of marketing materials.
-Serve as NJSO representative at CP events, including both backstage and front-of-house duties.
-Contract musicians for CP events.
-Coordinate with CP clients to plan and execute events.
-Track and manage program statistics, client information and musician-related data for report preparation.
-Manage library of chamber music: creating, editing and distributing parts as well as purchasing music.
-Other duties, as assigned.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
-Proficiency in standard Microsoft Office applications.
-Database experience (especially OPAS and Tessitura) helpful, but not required. Training will be provided.
-Ability to problem solve under high stress situations.
-Superior written and verbal communication skills.
-Knowledge of chamber music repertoire for standard chamber ensembles.
-Ability to diplomatically and graciously handle a wide variety of personalities.
-Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple overlapping projects.
-High level of organization and professionalism.
-Excellent interpersonal skills.
-The discipline to work independently, but also the ability to function as a member of a team.
QUALIFICATIONS
-Bachelor’s Degree in Music or Performing Arts Administration or equivalent work experience.
-Passion for making classical music accessible to new and diverse audiences.
-Experience as a freelance instrumentalist at the professional or semi-professional level a plus.
-Music library experience a plus.
-Familiarity with basic photo/video capture (smartphone or tablet) and editing a plus.
OTHER INFORMATION
-Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
-Must be able to work evenings, weekends and some holidays; and provide own transportation to multiple event venues.
-Physical requirements include carrying and setting up music folders, music stands, chairs and supplies.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra offers a competitive salary and benefits package but does not offer relocation stipends. Salary range is available upon request.
