Non Tenure-Track Assistant Professor, Musical Theater Voice Specialist
The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) seeks two (2) experienced, full-time non-tenure track educator faculty teachers of voice for its renowned Musical Theatre BFA program beginning August 15th, 2021.
The successful candidates will be expected to contribute to the discipline through teaching, coaching of performances, master classes, and other related professional activities.
Essential Functions: The successful Candidates will serve as integral members of the Musical Theatre Department and will teach required private voice lessons to Musical Theater Freshmen and Sophomores in the BFA program. They will be responsible for the necessary vocal coaching of students in productions as assigned by the department chair, adjudicating Performance Exams and providing bi-yearly feedback to students at the Freshmen, Sophomore and Junior Level. They will also participate in the audition and recruitment process and other related projects assigned by the Chair of Musical Theatre. As a member of the faculty, must actively pursue professional and creative development within their field in order to maintain their fluency with current industry practice and advance their pedagogy
Minimum Qualifications: Prior to effective date of appointment, the chosen candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in voice or musical theatre. In addition, a total of five years of experience is required. Such experience must encompass five years professional performance experience as well as either 3 academic years teaching experience in vocal pedagogy at the University level with undergraduate students -OR- 2 years teaching professional singers. The teaching experience can, but need not, be contemporaneous to the professional performance experience.
Terms of Appointment: Full Time non-tenure track Assistant Professor – Educator; salary within college guidelines for rank and experience. Initial appointment is three years and faculty member is then eligible for reappointment.
