Show Info:
THE RUINS OF ZINDOR is an immersive, interactive play-meets-escape-room set in a fantastical, sci-fi world. Audiences will move the action forward by completing hidden tasks within the space and triggering the next piece of the plot. The set will function as both a stage and something akin to an escape room, ideally with a mix of interactive elements that are both automated and remotely triggered by a stage manager. We are searching for a design team ideally with some experience in production, but more importantly in creating non-traditional immersive experiences and building practical elements. The creative team hails from the Burning Man, film/television, theatre, rave, and immersive events worlds, and are looking for folks who bring a diverse range of backgrounds and experience to the table. This production has been commissioned by the Luminato Festival and will be a part of the mid-October 2021 festival.
Role info:
Some traditional theatre experience will be needed to uniquely light the space and create theatrical lighting cues, but all actors will be projected as pre-filmed “holograms” (please list any past experience with projections or effects like Pepper’s Ghost) placed around the audience in a reverse - ”theatre in the round”. Rather than lighting actors and a stage, the lighting design will focus on creating an immersive set through light, in collaboration with the set designer. Practical elements that the audience interacts with will also be the result of the set and lighting design, so experience in building and lighting objects with various mediums is vital. These objects may be automated or triggered remotely by a stage manager. This is a highly collaborative role that will influence both the script and the overall production design.
