Viterbo University's Theatre and Music Theatre Department, a growing, nationally recognized BFA/BA program with 90 active majors, invites applications for an Instructor of Theatre and Music Theatre, beginning August 2021. This position is part of the newly announced formation of our Conservatory for the Performing Arts; an initiative born of the belief that the world needs artists and storytellers now more than ever. Our goal is to cultivate artists grounded in the liberal arts with a strong sense of self, a commitment to the common good and the skills to succeed at a professional level in the demanding performing arts industry.
Coursework will include various levels of Ballet and Tap, along with choreographing at least one department production per year. The ability to teach hip-hop and/or other contemporary music theatre dance styles is a plus.
Qualifications: Minimum of Bachelor’s degree with professional dance experience, strong musical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively are required. Preference given to candidates with significant national/regional performance and/or teaching experience.
Rank and Salary: Appointment at the rank of Instructor (non-tenure track). Nine-month academic year appointment beginning August 2021. Salary is competitive with other private, liberal arts institutions of similar size.
