Bryant Park Corporation and 34th Street Partnership are hiring a House Manager to facilitate summer programming in both districts.
Hourly Rate: $20
Job type: Part-time, seasonal. Fully in-person with no option for remote work.
Reports to: Operations and Programming Manager
Schedule: Nights and weekends. Upwards of 10 hours per week, closer to 40 hours at peak season.
Projected dates: Late April through September, 2025.

Bryant Park’s Reading Room hosts around a dozen recurring summer events, including authors’ interview panels, writing workshops and book clubs. Meanwhile 34th Street Partnership presents over 250 summer pop-up music events. The House Manager can expect to assist with the onsite implementation of a variety of these programs.
Events at Bryant Park’s Reading Room bolster the space’s mission of access to literacy and education. The House Manager should exhibit an understanding and appreciation for our events and the community they serve.
Responsibilities include:
• Prepare printed materials for events, such as brochures, promotional signage, and event flyers
• Oversee same day set up and breakdown of outdoor Reading Room public events
• Lead Program Production Assistants (PPAs) in smooth event operation and delegate tasks as needed
• Act as a front-of-house ambassador and communicate policies to the public
• Communicate logistical event issues with Reading Room staff, including weather, delays, and crowding
• Work independently to manage pop-up music performances around the 34th Street District, including, set-up and break down of performance spaces and basic audio tech
• Liaise with sanitation and security staff to address program needs as they arise
• Other responsibilities as requested by supervisor
Qualifications:
• Degree in a relevant course of study, or experience in related field preferred
• Outgoing, mature, and assertive, with a “no job too small” attitude
• Ability to multi-task and to work independently, as well as a team leader
• Interest in literature, writing, media and/or music performance a plus
• Experience as a stagehand, stage manager, sound engineer, or production assistant a plus
• Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills
• Responsible and detail-oriented with excellent observation skills
• Ability to lift 50lbs and to stay on feet for extended periods of time in varied weather conditions
