Position Summary:

The Grants Manager will be responsible for the research, development and execution of DGF’s granting programs including Emergency grants as well as new initiatives. This person will ensure a thorough and efficient turnaround for applications, collaborate with the Director of Grants and Programs to build effective and sustainable execution of grant programs as well as be responsible for the study and awareness of relevant grantmaking practices. The Grants Manager will participate in strategic conversations and brainstorming with DGF staff in pursuit of big-picture, organizational goals that align with our trust-based philanthropic approach to grantmaking.

Ability to Work Remotely:

This is a hybrid position for persons available to work both remotely and possibly once a week in the office.

Salary: $60,000 per year

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Work with the Director of Grants and Programs to communicate trends within DGF granting as well as the industry and other granting programs to ensure that DGF is responsive to its beneficiaries
  • Communicate any observed challenges, operations in need of alterations, or areas for improvement for all granting programs to the team
  • Work with Director of Grants and Programs to devise creative solutions for any of the above
  • Supervise the grant team members with best practices for Intake and processing DGF Emergency Grants, contacting applicants for addition information when necessary
  • Supervise the research of and implementation of proper grants management training for necessary team members
  • Document the processes for DGF’s granting programs and update these documents as the programs evolve
  • Supervise and support the creation of and roll out of the marketing, application process and review process of all DGF assigned grants
  • Promote DGF’s grantmaking activities among arts and philanthropic organizations
  • Support DGF’s program monitoring & evaluation and needs assessments -Support of initiatives across the programs department as needed
  • Communicate with peer and partner organizations with comparable programs to assess best practices and community needs
  • Run reports reflecting information on DGF’s granting programs as needed -Complete research projects assigned by Director of Grants and Programs
  • Collaborate with Programs team and DGF team through updates and communications in project management platform, Monday.com
  • Maintain application records in an organized fashion in Google Drive

  • Attending occasional in-person and virtual work events (often evening); conversing with beneficiaries, donors, and Board Members.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • BS/BA or equivalent combination of education and/or experience required.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in arts program coordination, grantmaking, or arts administration
  • Working knowledge of arts-based philanthropy (including networks, studies, and opportunities)
  • Impeccable communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusive and anti-oppressive standards and practices
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate a high volume of diverse assignments and effectively handle competing priorities while maintaining meticulous attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of the theater community in New York strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; ability to learn organization’s database, content management system, and other software as needed.
  • Proficiency in Spanish or another language strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and use good judgment in making independent decisions with a high degree of tact and diplomacy.
  • Proven ability to work with little supervisor intervention and as a team member.
  • Experience interacting with high net worth individuals.
  • Flexibility

Educational Requirement:

BS/BA/BFA or equivalent combination of education and/or experience required.

Language Requirement:

No language requirement, but proficiency in Spanish or another language strongly preferred.

  • Occasional free theater tickets and access to purchase house seats if available.
  • Eligibility for annual performance-based bonus of up to 7% of salary rate, prorated to start date. Bonus not guaranteed.
