POSITION SUMMARY:
The General Manager is responsible for the core business activities of RealTime Arts. Serving as a key member of the leadership team, the General Manager will manage the day-to-day management functions for the business, providing a consistent, effective, and transparent management of contracts, finances, grants, payroll, and HR policies and handbook. This work is done to support the strategies for growth and success outlined in the organization’s Strategic Plan. At an estimated 20 hours / week, this role is focused on
supporting the entrepreneurial moment for growth for Realtime Arts. Working closely with the artistic/ executive directors, the general manager coordinates operations for successful implementation of production, education and fundraising programs.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
Finance & HR:
● Create the annual budget and future projections, with leadership; manage and report on
budget to staff and Board
● Supervise and manage data-flows for payroll and Quickbooks
● Manage contracts
● Coordinate hiring of teaching and production staff
● Coordinate staff meetings
● Update handbook and educate staff on policy changes
Fundraising / Grants:
● Maintain a monthly review of upcoming grants and status reports with Artistic Director
● Regularly search and report on forthcoming grant opportunities, documenting core components
Technology System:
● Maintenance and integration of Grants, Production, Communications (all stakeholders),
Education and Strategic Goals Calendars
● CRM / Tickets
○ Do monthly data hygiene
○ Work with the marketing team for donor/ patron lists
○ Manage financial flows from ticket sales, donations, and finance
● Oversee Website updating (no design required)
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Overall:
● Demonstrated ability to manage complex systems in a nimble and effective manner,
adapting systems to changing circumstances when needed.
● Realtime Arts provides a fun and flexible work environment that is mostly remote. The GM must be self-motivated, able to plan, implement, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision, and to have access to reliable internet access for remote work.
● Ability to work independently as well as with teams.
● The GM must be a clear, consistent communicator at all levels.
● Experience with Google Workspace, database systems, project management like Trello, and online publication platforms like Squarespace.
● A love for storytelling, theatre, and uplifting the human experience.
EDUCATION AND EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE
● Equivalent of an undergraduate degree and three years’ work experience.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: $30,000/ year. A part-time, exempt position, this role is paid monthly. Additional QoL stipend of $500/year may be available, to discuss upon hiring.
