HOURS: May 20 - May 31, 2025: (5) Day work week averaging 40 hrs
June 2 - August 28, 2025: (6) Day work week averaging 54 hrs
Hours will vary during The Festival depending on weekly schedules and all efforts will be made to provide 48 hours a week.

The Jacob’s Pillow Production Department seeks a video engineer to join its seasonal staff for the 2025 Summer Festival. The Festival Video Engineer reports to the Video Supervisor and works closely and collaboratively with them to support all activities during The Festival. During the pre-season they assist the Video Supervisor in installing and preparing the video elements of all activity within the Ted Shawn Theatre (TST), the Doris Duke Theatre (DDT) as well as ancillary spaces across the campus. They will also assist in the installation of the video systems in the Ted Shawn Theatre (TST), Doris Duke Theatre (DDT), Henry J. Leir Stage (HJL) as well as in all of the support spaces on campus. During The Festival the Festival Video Engineer’s primary responsibility is to assist the Video Supervisor during their load-ins, changeovers, and technical rehearsals. They take the lead in the implementation and operation of the video systems for special events and other campus activities, working in support of the Events Production Manager. The Festival Video Engineer also assists the Video Supervisor with the organization and daily maintenance of the campus’ audio infrastructure and equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain a safe, healthy, and accessible work environment.
Actively participate in the opening and closing of all of the Festival's performance spaces, studios, exhibition spaces, and temporary tents.
Actively participate in all assigned work calls.
Assist the Events PM and Video Supervisor in communication about special events with visiting companies, community partners, and other Jacob's Pillow departments to ensure the details of their video needs are clear and accurate.
With the guidance and management of the Events PM and the Video Supervisor take the lead on the planning, preparation, implementation, and operation of assigned activities and special events.
Act as the primary video point of contact for assigned special events.
Participate in the creation of detailed and comprehensive paperwork including labor plans, changeover narratives, and production schedules.
Support the TST, DDT, and HJL Production Teams by assisting them during load-ins, changeovers, video system checks, focuses, and technical rehearsals.
Assist the Video Supervisor in making improvements to The Pillow’s video infrastructure and equipment.
Support the installation of work into The Pillow’s exhibition spaces.
Oversee the creation and maintenance of any necessary paperwork.
Remain in constant communication with the Events PM and Video Supervisor to ensure proper and necessary support for all assigned events and activities.
Maintain clean and orderly video workspaces, backstage equipment, and storage areas in all support spaces and audio storage areas.
Participate in the training of Production Interns by offering constructive guidance and by acting as a role model and supportive co-worker.
Provide support to Jacob’s Pillow Media Team in documenting performances, talks, and events.
Support and assist with the installation and operation of the Season Opening Gala as needed.
Support the installation of work into The Pillow’s exhibition spaces.
Under the general direction of the DoTP, assist with coordination of emergency response for staff and patrons in the event of an emergency or extreme weather
Complete Adult/Child CPR, First Aid, and Cultural Competence Training (provided to all seasonal staff during the pre-season)
Assist other departments, including non-production departments, as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
2-3 years of related experience in video engineering for live performance.
Strong knowledge of and the ability to instruct others on the installation and use of theatrical video systems as well as departmental standard operating procedures.
Knowledge of production-related health and safety best practices and ability to identify and correct potential hazards.
Proficiency with Google App suite as well as industry-standard video applications such as Isadora, Qlab, Watchout, Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve.
Experience with budgeting and scheduling.
Ability to work proactively, creatively, flexibly, and collaboratively.
Willingness to learn.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION
Knowledge and experience working in dance production.
Experience working in a performing arts educational environment.
Experience with wardrobe, lighting, audio or video systems, equipment, and software.
Valid driver’s license.
Driving trucks and cargo vans in urban and rural areas.
Experience with advanced production technology such as augmented reality, virtual reality, or robotics.
Experience working outdoors or in non-conventional performance venues or productions.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Working regularly in wooded areas with exposure to native wildlife including, but not limited to, rodents, ticks, and mosquitos.
Working regularly outdoors in all weather conditions including inclement weather.
Working a 6-day work week including early mornings, late evenings, and weekends.
Moving equipment up to 50 lbs alone or with assistance.
Moving through and between multiple locations throughout the entire campus including over uneven terrain.
Remaining in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
Working at heights above 6 feet and up to 30 feet.
Ascending and descending straight and step ladders.
Operating push around or drivable person lifts including at heights.
Working in show conditions with theatrical and atmospheric elements including but not limited to: fog, haze, strobes, dim lights, and loud sounds.
