Manhattan Theatre Club (MTC) is a Tony Award-winning nonprofit theatre dedicated to the production of contemporary plays and musicals. Founded in 1970, MTC has been the creative and artistic home for America’s most gifted theatrical artists, producing works of the highest quality by contemporary playwrights. MTC produces plays in two locations: On Broadway at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre (West 47th) and Off-Broadway at the historic NY City Center complex (West 55th).
The Facilities Manager would support our 3 different spaces across midtown: Our company office on 43rd Street, and the Friedman Theatre on 47th, and some support for City Center on 55th though they have their own facilities staff. The Facilities manager would work closely with the Director of Production, overseeing Capital Project Upgrades and Capital Equipment requests; overseeing the maintenance of MTC’s rehearsal studios for both MTC’s productions and all outside rentals. This position will work closely with MTC Staff, technical crews, consultants, and vendors. MTC is producing events constantly and we need someone who is excited about interacting with some of the top theatre makers in NY.
The ideal candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, a sharp eye for detail, exceptional organizational skills and the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects at once. Proficiency with MS Office is necessary. A working knowledge of theatrical production is an added bonus. Evening, weekend and early morning hours will be required on occasion. The applicant may be required to lift up to 40 lbs.
JOB DUTIES:
Act as the liaison between the Production department, administration, actors, directors and potential renters.
Create and implement all season scheduling related to Facilities Projects
Assume budget responsibility for all Facilities areas including material, rental and labor budgets.
Oversee, run and attend all Facilities related meetings as well as monitor the progress of each contractor and vendor throughout the process in concert with the Production Management Team.
Oversee logistical and budgetary requirements of facility operations and studio rentals
Advise and oversee Capital Project Upgrades and Capital Equipment requests; working with Development department to obtain funding and seeing project through from initial steps to completion.
Work closely with other members of the senior staff on long range planning in order to achieve the overall goals of the Manhattan Theatre Club
Maintain a healthy and safe working environment.
Additional duties as assigned.
