The Education Coordinator works closely with the Education & Community Engagement (ECE) team to plan and implement core programs, including the NJSO Youth Orchestras, Coach-in-Residence Program and related activities for schools and communities statewide. The Coordinator also serves as department lead for: 1) data management, and 2) coordination of program evaluation and assessment.
Currently, all NJSO employees work remotely for day-to-day activity. However, some in-person work is required of this position for rehearsals, performances and related community events, in compliance with the NJSO’s COVID Safety Plan. Once it is safe to do so, regular presence will be required in the office as well as in the field.
RESPONSIBILITIES
-Provide administrative and logistical support for the NJSO Youth Orchestras, including Saturday program duty during the season (October–May).
-Support data management for the department, including Tessitura maintenance.
-Manage the workflow and timelines for program evaluation and assessment, including data collection and reporting.
-Coordinate event survey design and analysis, participation statistics tracking and photo archive organization.
-Serve as NJSO representative at select community events, including backstage and front-of-house duties.
-Collaborate on cross-departmental special projects, including in-person and virtual events.
-Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
-Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
-2+ years of experience coordinating arts and/or educational programs.
-Demonstrated ability to execute complex logistics and react to and resolve sensitive situations.
-Strong computer skills required, including proficiency with standard Microsoft Office applications.
-Database experience (especially Tessitura) helpful, but not required. Training will be provided.
-Excellent communication abilities and organizational skills and experience working with diverse teams.
-Familiarity with basic photo/video capture (smartphone or tablet) and editing a plus.
OTHER INFORMATION
-Must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.
-Must be able to work evenings, weekends and some holidays; and provide own transportation to multiple event venues.
-Physical requirements include carrying and setting up music folders, music stands, chairs and supplies.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra offers a competitive salary and benefits package but does not offer relocation. Salary range available upon request.
