Manhattan Theatre Club (MTC), a Tony Award-winning nonprofit theatre dedicated to the production of contemporary plays and musicals, seeks a Company Manager for our off-Broadway stages at City Center reporting to our General Manager and Associate General Manager. For nearly fifty years, MTC has been the creative and artistic home for America’s most gifted theatrical artists, producing works of the highest quality by American and international playwrights. We are strongly committed to producing work that is made by, and tells the stories of, a wide range of voices from all walks of life and to making that work accessible to all audiences including those that have historically lacked access to the arts and cultural sector. This season MTC is producing five plays in Broadway's restored Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on West 47th Street and off Broadway at the historic NY City Center complex on West 55th Street.
The City Center Company Manager is responsible for all company management functions related to Manhattan Theatre Club’s Off-Broadway performance spaces at New York City Center, Stage I (LORT B) and Stage II (LORT D) although this season MTC is not producing in Stage II. The Company Manager must be a driven, dedicated and self-sufficient manager. This position combines supervision at the theatre and the tasks associated with working in a busy General Management Office of a leading Broadway and Off-Broadway producing organization
Job Responsibilities
• Covers all MTC City Center Stage I and Stage II performances at theatre, coordinating with Stage Management to address all production/actor needs, with House Management on front of house concerns, and with Box Office on ticketing issues.
• Acts as MTC’s representative at the theatre for subscriber and patron questions, concerns, and ticket issues, in conjunction with MTC Ticket Services Representatives.
• Negotiates and prepares all AEA contracts for all Stage I and Stage II productions.
• Organizes all travel and housing needs for visiting artists and proofs all marketing and press materials.
• Monitors box office activity and institutional ticketing needs.
• Manages TDF, TKTS, TodayTix, Comp Ticket Requests, and other ticket program needs accordingly.
• Processes AEA weekly payroll and pension & welfare reports.
• Processes fees and royalty payments for production staff.
• Manages Company Management budgets for all Stage I and Stage II productions.
• Manage various ticket inventories for each show.
• Coordinates special events related to each production, such as opening nights, first preview toasts, closing toasts, etc.
Requirements
Must have 1-3 years of experience in General Management or Company Management in a comparable setting. Knowledge of LORT-AEA rules a major plus. Nights and weekends are a must.
This is a union position currently offering a salary of $1,125 a week and benefits as covered by an ATPAM contract. This position will commence November 5, 2023 and will run through a week following the close of the second production in Stage I.
