Choreographer - Diary of a Wimpy Kid - Children's Theatre of ELgin

Children's Theatre of Elgin and Fox Valley Theatre Company are not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organizations based in Elgin, Illinois. Together, they are one of the oldest and largest children's theatre companies in Illinois, providing high-quality theatrical experiences for children and young adults. The organizations encourage family support and participation in theatre, making excellent live theatre affordable and accessible to the community.



Role Description:

We are in search of a Choreographer for our Spring 2025 production of Diary of a Wimpy Kid the Musical. As the Choreographer, you will be responsible for creating original choreography for the production, filming an step-by-step dance for auditioners to learn, evaluating auditioners, and working with the producer and artistic team to create a fun environment for our cast members, which culminates in a production.



Required Availability:

Auditions will be held from 5:30pm to 9:00pm on Tuesday and Wednesday, January 14-15, 2025. Callbacks will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025 from 6:00pm to 8:30pm. The location for auditions and callbacks is Journey of Hope (37W040 Highland Ave, Elgin, IL 60124).



Rehearsals begin the week of January 27, 2025 and continue through April 5, 2025. Rehearsal days and times are TBD based on the availability of the artistic team. Rehearsals may be held at either Journey of Hope or The Hemmens Cultural Center (45 Symphony Way, Elgin, IL 60120).



Tech rehearsals will be held on Monday, April 7, 2025 through Wednesday, April 9, 2025 from 5:30pm to 9:30pm at The Hemmens Cultural Center.



The Choreographer is expected to be at least two rehearsals per week.

Qualifications:

Able to successfully pass a criminal background check

Experience working with children and young adults, ages seven through fifteen

Strong leadership and collaboration skills

Highly organized, skilled at managing multiple priorities

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Prior experience in musical theatre production, in the capacity of a performer, production team member or artistic team member
Salary: $1000
