SUMMARY
The Associate Director of Development reports to the Director of Development and oversees Dallas Theater Center’s individual giving membership program The Benefactors (gifts $1,000+) and all fundraising for the annual Centerstage gala.
The Associate Director of Development manages the Manager of Individual Giving and Events position, whose responsibilities
include securing gifts under $1,000 and planning and executing special events.
The position also serves as the staff liaison to the Full Board, the new Board Alumni Society, and the Board Nominating and Governance Committee. This position works directly with members of the Board of Trustees and DTC artistic, marketing, production, and education staff.

SSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage the Benefactors membership program (gifts $1,000+):
▪ Solicit monthly renewals from Benefactors through direct mail, email, phone calls, and face-to-face follow up.
▪ Acquire new donors through a variety of strategies:
o Engage Board members to assist in cultivating prospects
o Create targeted appeals to solicit upgrades and new gifts
o Execute cultivation events and post-event follow up asks
o Use prospecting tools to identify viable major donor prospects
▪ Work with the Manager of Individual Giving and Donor Stewardship Manager to execute benefit fulfillment and
year-round stewardship.
Manage fundraising for the annual Centerstage Gala:
▪ Work directly with volunteer event chairs to solicit contributions through underwriting, sponsorship, and ticket
sales:
o 1-2 direct mail appeals and formal invitation
o email, phone calls, and face-to-face follow up
▪ Manage raffle promotion and sales with winner announced at the event.
▪ Manage after-party ticket promotion and sales
▪ Manage online pre-event silent auction
▪ Manage on-site fundraising at the event, including additional raffle sales and live auction.
▪ Work with Associate Director of Marketing and other members of the Marketing department to promote the gala in press releases, social media, eblast campaigns, and on-site at performances.
Board Liaison duties:
• Work with Board officers and Managing Director to plan and execute at least five Full Board Meetings each season
o Create and distribute agenda and meeting packet
o Take and distribute meeting minutes
o Set up meeting spaces
• Manage Board Liaison email account and weekly board email communication
• Manage Board Alumni Society including two in-person events each season, email updates, updating member contact information
• Serve as staff liaison to the Board Nominating and Governance Committee
o Schedule and facilitate monthly committee meetings and distribute notes after
o Track the creation of annual incoming board classes to include renewing, returning, and new board members
Other Management duties:
• Manage the Manager of Individual Giving and Events, including goal-setting, regular check ins to track progress toward goals, conducting mid-year and annual reviews.
Additional duties
• Perform work in a manner that is consistent with DTC’s Mission, Vision and Values.
• Be an active participant in DTC’s work towards equity, diversity and inclusion and becoming an anti-racist organization by:
o Participating in all DTC-wide EDI trainings, workshops or experiences
o Participating in all EDI learnings or experiences cultivated within the Development Department
• To maintain safe working conditions in keeping with DTC health and safety guidelines and COVID19 Response Protocols.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
▪ Fundraising background with knowledge of management of membership programs and special events
▪ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
▪ Ability to work nights and weekends, as required
▪ Strategic planning skills
▪ Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
▪ Knowledge of Tessitura or comparable CRM software strongly preferred
▪ Motivated to work towards accomplishing annual financial goals
▪ A positive attitude and strong commitment to exemplary customer service
▪ Strong interpersonal communications skills and ability to maintain confidentiality

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
▪ 3-5 years fundraising experience preferred
▪ Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience, required
▪ Experience in theater, the arts, or non-profit organizations preferred
