Associate Audio Supervisor

The Associate Audio Supervisor position reports to the Audio Supervisor and will support and help realize the artistic and technical needs of all internal and external clients. This role will oversee the allocation, maintenance, inventory, and storage of audio, communications, and related equipment in all Office of the Arts venues, and will support all backstage operations. This position will provide expertise in the use and maintenance of audio equipment. This is an important role that requires accuracy, attention to detail, and a passion for theatrical production.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
• Plan the audio needs and challenges of assigned events, shows, maintenance, repairs, and updates.
• Advise audio teams, reviewing drawings and plans, and offering technical advice as required.
• Collaborate with the Audio Supervisor to develop the department budget and create technical drawings for Office of the Arts productions.
• Coordinate with the Audio Supervisor to analyze technical riders and other show documents.
• Maintain accurate equipment inventory and schedule repairs as needed.
• Execute and manage all aspects of assigned events, including, but not limited to, crew scheduling, securing equipment, and installing scenic elements.
• Liaise as necessary with clients to ensure that their event meets their expectations, and facilitate communication between Production, Guest Experience, and show staff.
• Provide training in the proper operation and management of audio equipment.
• Assist in the development of policies and procedures for the use of theatrical audio equipment.
• Maintain audio equipment, performing or organizing repairs and preventative or emergency maintenance; plan system upgrades.
• Schedule intermittent, student, and contractor staff based on specific project needs.
• Manage and maintain the Digital Audio network infrastructure.
• Oversee the operation and facilitation of Office of the Arts digital events.
• Collect and organize data to optimize future operations.
• Plan and execute projects as appropriate.
• Serve as interim Audio Supervisor and lead Audio Engineer as required.
• Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS - Qualifications are deemed required or preferred and represent what is needed to effectively perform job.
• Bachelor's Degree in Audio Production or Theatre Production required
• 3-5 years of progressive experience in theatrical supervision and crew management required
• Experience with digital signal processing use and programming (BSS, XTA, R1) required
• Experience with show control software required
• Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES - May be representative, but not all-inclusive, of those knowledge, skills, and abilities commonly associated with the job.
• Knowledge of basic electrical theory
• Knowledge of Intermediate Networking, FFT based studio analysis software, and RF intermodulation and coordination software
• Knowledge of Audio-over-IP protocols, standards, practice and implementation
• Ability to use analog and digital audio consoles
• Ability to perform soldering and basic electrical repairs
• Knowledge of the theatrical industry and OSHA safety procedures and practices
• Self-starter with good problem-solving skills
• Ability to work in high-stress situations with varied personalities
• Ability to maintain multiple projects simultaneously and to prioritize tasks
• Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing circumstances

• This position is active in nature, continuous movement is required.
• Ability to have continuous oral and written communication with co-workers and supervisors is essential.
• Repetitive movements, frequent lifting of up to 100 pounds, reaching, pushing, stooping, climbing, and the ability to read a computer screen, detect color-coding, and read fine print will be expected.

• This position works in a theatre and an office environment
• Exposed to the very loud noise levels of power tools and sound systems
• Occasionally exposed to extreme temperatures and inclement weather conditions

• Exposed to vibration, moving mechanical parts, and the risk of electric shock
• Works at height and various stage elevations
• May occasionally work in a confined space

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40.00
