Journey Returns to the Japanese Stage with 50 Years of History
Celebrating their 50th anniversary, the legendary American rock band JOURNEY made a triumphant return to Japan after seven years. Their Osaka performance on November 19, 2024, marked a resounding start to their tour, captivating the audience with iconic hits such as “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Open Arms,” and “Separate Ways.” The two-hour set left an indelible impression on all who attended.

Drummer Deen Castronovo’s shout of “Osaka, domo arigato (thank you so much) !” elicited cheers of “Deen!” from the fans. Deen’s vocals in "Still They Ride" were delivered amidst a mesmerizing interplay of blue, white, and cyan lights, creating an enchanting atmosphere that held the audience spellbound.

As the concert approached its finale, Arnel descended into the audience during "Wheel In The Sky," circling the arena and high-fiving fans. This direct engagement further deepened the sense of unity. Shouting, “You make us happy, Osaka!” Arnel once again electrified the audience, drawing them into the band’s infectious energy.
The climax arrived with a powerful rendition of "Separate Ways," heralded by Jonathan’s resonant keyboard intro. Arnel punched the air in rhythm, rallying the audience into a frenzy. The momentum carried through to their legendary hits "Don't Stop Believin’" and "Any Way You Want It," which brought the crowd’s excitement to an all-time high. Standing at the very edge of the stage, Arnel delivered heartfelt vocals that felt as though he was speaking directly to each fan.
Closing the night, they repeatedly expressed their gratitude with heartfelt “Thank you!”s, bowing deeply as they exited the stage—a gesture that left a lasting impression.
While the concert highlighted Arnel’s passionate vocals and Neal’s exceptional guitar work, it was a collective masterpiece created by the entire Journey ensemble. The frequent expressions of gratitude during the talk segments reflected their joy in returning to Japan, leaving a memorable mark on the evening.
