Tom Hiddleston, Sophia Di Martino and other celebrities visited Japan for Osaka Comic Con 2024 held from May 3rd for three days. "Osaka Comic Con" is a pop culture festival that provides opportunities for communication with celebrities and exhibits props used in movies. Here, we bring you the highlights of the talk show featuring these two who co-starred in the MARVEL’s "Loki" during the event.

Tom Hiddleston : A talented actor known for his role as Loki in "Avengers" series, having won numerous awards including the Golden Globe. His notable works include dramas like "Loki."

Sophia Di Martino : Became instantly famous for her role as Sylvie in the series “Loki”.

The cosplayers filled the stage, creating a grand entrance for Sofia. "Hi, everyone," she greeted, looking around curiously at the high-level cosplay. Tom followed with a smile, waving his hand. “Loki ga arigato to itte imasu (Loki says thank you),” he said in Japanese, adding, “It's so lovely to be here in Osaka. Thank you for coming to say hello to us. All of you absolutely look fantastic," he said, pointing to the cosplayers.

The cosplayers left the stage, and the Q&A session began.

Q. Do you have a message for your Japanese fans?

Sofia : "Thank you for inviting us and for your hospitality. We're having such a lovely time. It's so lovely to meet so many of you in person.”

Tom : "I love coming to Japan. I love meeting all of you and am so moved and grateful at the generosity you’re showing me over the many years, especially to Loki. It means the world.”

Q. After playing Loki for 14 years, what advice would you give your younger self when you first started?

Tom : "The journey will be longer than you think. Trust yourself. Trust your instincts. Because on the journey, those instincts will keep you safe. And get ready, Loki’s gonna change your life," he smiled.

Q. How has appearing in the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) changed your life?

Sofia : "I get to come to Comic Con! And traveling around the world and meeting incredible fandom. I am truly grateful for that opportunity. But I’m trying to keep humble and not to change my life too much.”

Q. Some say you made history as the first MCU character to work at McDonald's. How do you feel about that?

Sofia : "I thought it was a clever and interesting metaphor for everyday which is what Sylvie was trying to tap into, as a way to have a moment rest and try to assimilate into what she saw normal life.”

Q. Loki didn't order anything at McDonald’s back then. If he had, what would he have ordered? What's your favorite menu item?

Tom : He tried to remember, “Can’t remember what’s on the menu..." Then he turned to Sofia, "Sofia knows exactly what she would have,” said and asked her.

Sofia : “I like to get large fries and strawberry milkshake, and dip the fries in the shake. I love it.”

Tom : “I think Loki would definitely dip his fries in sweet and sour sauce. Like Loki, sweet and sour.”

Q. Fans around the world are excited for Loki Season 3. If it happens, what scenes would you want to film, and is there any possibility of a reunion with Thor?

Tom : "All I know is that Loki is on the throne at the end of time, taking care of the lives of his friends. I would imagine that includes, the life somewhere on some timeline of his brother but that’s where we left him.”

The host said, "Since Tom is now also involved in production, we look forward to a sequel." Tom replied, "I'll let them know."

Q. Can we expect to see Sylvie again in MCU?

Sofia : "I would love that, but who knows.”

Q. “The Night Manager” Season 2 has been confirmed! What can you tell us about it?

Tom : "The Night Manager” alongside “Loki,” was one of the most creatively fulfilling experiences of my life. I loved playing Jonathan Pine. He has been living in a world for the last eight years a lot has happened. We start very soon, and I can't tell you how excited I am.”

Q. What's the next project for Sofia, after “The Electrical Life of Louis Wain” and “Yesterday”?

Sofia : "I did a film called “The Radleys,” which is a British vampire movie. I don't play a vampire but that would be coming out at some point of this year. Also the second series of the BBC’s show, called “Peacock”. And I also did a show in the past called “Flowers,” which I’m super proud of. My husband, Will Sharpe wrote it.

The "Loki Pose”is back! This time with two Loki.

The host requested, the “Loki Pose” that was a big hit at the last Tokyo Comic Con (Read: Feature: 'I AM LOKI' - Tom Hiddleston at TOKYO COMIC CON 2023 of CELEBRITY STAGE), we would like to ask both Loki to do it this time.”

The audience burst into applause for the celebrities' precious pose.

Q: What are your favorite scenes from all the seasons of “Loki”?

Sophia : "I really like the fighting. The train is the really cool scene."

Tom : "The train has everything: singing, dancing, fighting."

Sophia : “I also really loved the blanket scene! Someone made a blanket and we had a photo under the blanket!"

Tom : “What I find very moving is the link between the end of season 1 and the end of season 2. The end of season 1, Loki said to Sylvie, 'I just want you to be okay.' And at the end of season 2, he sacrifices himself so that she is okey. And Sylvie says..."

Sophia : “‘He’s giving us a chance.'" she reenacted her line.

Tom : “I really loved the very final scene where I say goodbye to Sylvie and Mobius. ‘I know what I want. I know what kind of god I need to be…for you. For all of us.’ He delivered the iconic line live.

Final Messages to Fans

Sofia : "I love love love Japan. I love meeting you all today. I hope more people tomorrow and Sunday. Just great to be here on the whole weekend. Super grateful. Arigato gozaimasu,” she smiled.

Tom : "Thank you for your love, passion, kindness, energy, and inspiration. Omaneki itadaki arigato goazaimasu (Thank you so much for inviting me)," he placed his hand on his heart.

Time for Farewell

Tom took the lead as they held hands, bowed deeply, and then raised their joined hands high in response to the cheers. They shook hands with all the other participants on stage, expressing their gratitude, and left with finger hearts. 

From the audience, one could see the great teamwork between the two. Their ability to understand each other with just a glance was a rare sight, only possible at Comic Con. If you love Hollywood movies and celebrities, you should definitely attend Comic Con.

The cosplayers filled the stage, creating a grand entrance for Sofia. "Hi, everyone," she greeted, looking around curiously at the high-level cosplay. Tom followed with a smile, waving his hand. “Loki ga arigato to itte imasu (Loki says thank you),” he said in Japanese, adding, “It's so lovely to be here in Osaka. Thank you for coming to say hello to us. All of you absolutely look fantastic," he said, pointing to the cosplayers.

As the photo session began, Sofia borrowed props from the cosplayer and playfully swung them around. Tom spread his arms and smiled, embodying Loki, and every wave from the two was met with cheers from the crowd. They constantly engaged with their fans, with finger hearts and smiles. Sofia took a selfie with the fans, and Tom gets in the photo. Then, Tom took her phone for another selfie with them.

The cosplayers left the stage, and the Q&A session began.

Q. Do you have a message for your Japanese fans?

Sofia : "Thank you for inviting us and for your hospitality. We're having such a lovely time. It's just so lovely to meet so many of you in person.”

Tom : He started to answer, but the mic volume was low. "Hello?" he said, checking the mic. Fans swooned at the sight, and he smiled at them. "It's so wonderful to be here. I love coming to Japan. I love meeting all of you and am so moved and grateful at the generosity you’re showing me over the many years, especially to Loki. It means the world.”

Q. After playing Loki for 14 years, what advice would you give your younger self when you first started?

Tom : "Wow..." he said, thinking deeply. "The journey will be longer than you think. One thing I would say to myself is, trust yourself. Trust your instincts. Because on the journey, those instincts will keep you safe. And get ready, Loki’s gonna change your life," he smiled.

Q. How has appearing in the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) changed your life?

And meet all of you wonderful people, traveling around the world and meeting incredible fandom and visiting all these cultures that I wound ordinary have a chance to. I am truly grateful for that opportunity. But in other way, I’m trying to keep humble and not to change my life too much."

Tom : Laughing at the question, he said, “It’s been a long time." He tried to remember, “Can’t remember what’s on the menu..." Then he turned to Sofia, "Sofia knows exactly what she would have,” said and asked her.

Sofia : “I have a quite strange order. I like to get large fries and strawberry milkshake, and I like to dip the fries in the shake. I love it.”

Tom : “I think Loki would definitely dip his fries in sweet and sour sauce. Like Loki, sweet and sour.” The audience collectively nodded in agreement, saying, "Ah, of course!"

Q. Fans around the world are excited for Loki Season 3. If it happens, what scenes would you want to film, and is there any possibility of a reunion with Thor?

Tom : Taking a deep breath, he said, "All I know is that Loki is on the throne at the end of time, taking care of the lives of his friends. I would imagine that includes, the life somewhere on some timeline of his brother but that’s where we left him.”

The host said, "Since Tom is now also involved in production, we look forward to a sequel." Tom replied, "I'll let them know."

Q. Can we expect to see Sylvie again in MCU?

Sofia : "All I know is what Tom knows," repeating his answer. "So, ask him! No," she joked and laughed. “I would love that, but who knows."

Q. “The Night Manager” Season 2 has been confirmed! What can you tell us about it?

Tom : "The Night Manager” alongside “Loki,” was one of the most creatively fulfilling experiences of my life. I loved playing Jonathan Pine and I'm very excited to play him again. He has been living in a world for the last eight years a lot has happened. But if I told you what the story was, there will be no point of making it so I have to leave it there... (lol) We start very soon, and I can't tell you how excited I am.”

Pointing to the back, he added, “Look at this. That’s ‘VARIANT'". I know what it’s like to wear that jacket," referring to the costume from “Loki”.

And then, the long-awaited Loki Pose!

Sophia : "I really like the fighting." Then, she talked to Tom off-mic again.

Tom : "Sophia is counting the number of times we've fought in the show,” he said on mic and shared their conversation with everyone.

Sophia : "The train is the really cool scene."
