After a successful series of performances on the Greek National Opera Alternative Stage at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center that enthused children and grown-ups alike, Nikos Kypourgos and Thomas Moschopoulos’ sparkling musical Silence, The King Is Listening travels to six cities across Greece.

The soprano Vasiliki Constantinou, the mezzo soprano Anoki von Arx, and the pianist Zara Bakhoudarian are to present a concert dedicated to the Stabat Mater sequence, a 13th-century Christian hymn to Mary. The piece, which portrays her suffering as Jesus Christ's mother during his crucifixion, will now take place at Technopolis 20, on Wednesday, April 27, at 7pm. The title comes from its first line, Stabat Mater dolorosa, which means 'the sorrowful mother was standing' and has been set to music by many Western composers, including Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, whose work is going to be presented.

The educational programme Co-OPERAtive will offer a series of workshops led by distinguished artists from the fields of music, theatre, dance and opera to a group of 30 young people from different ethnic, social and cultural backgrounds.
In May, the National Theatre of Greece launched a free online pilot program developed by a team of experts to use singing to assist people suffering from breathlessness and stress. Thirty patients have benefitted from the program to date, and the goal is to support 100 people next year.
