Plays of Wilton (POW!) is pleased to announce our 2nd Annual Live Giving Tuesday Telethon. POW! has become the leading LQBTQ+ in South Florida promoting LGBTQ+ artists and their works. Since our inception in 2020, we have produced over 40 productions of which 10 were new works and world premieres. Throughout the day on Giving Tuesday, local artists donate their time to perform in an old fashioned live streamed telethon replete with a volunteer phone bank, fundraising thermometer, local celebrity guest hosts and a live audience. Donors are encouraged to stop by the theater during the day for free entertainment and light refreshments and they can drop off their donations in person. Our inaugural telethon in 2023 raised over 100,000 dollars to help support the advancement of LGBTQ+ artists and their work. Our Giving Tuesday Campaign allowed us to expand our production schedule of LGBTQ+ works in 2023 and transfer our production of “The Actors” to Theater Row in New York City.
Theater is essential. Art is essential. Storytelling is essential. Plays Of Wilton Inc. at The Foundry, a non-profit under the direction of Ronnie Larsen, is an LGBTQ+ arts production organization focused on theater and storytelling in multiple mediums. Our goal at POW! is to create work that is relevant and timely. We don't announce a season of plays a year in advance, because the world is constantly changing and we want to be able to address those changes in the moment and change direction to reflect what is happening in the world. Serving a diverse and marginalized community is our main focus.
