BREAKDOWN

WE ARE CONTINUOUS

SYNOPSIS: Simon, a gay Black man, and his devout Christian mother, Ora, have always been close. Despite knowing Simon is gay, Ora has avoided discussing his sexuality since he came out at sixteen. Through richly drawn characters and evocative storytelling, Rivers crafts a narrative that resonates with universal themes of human connection and the ever-evolving nature of family. Join us for a compelling theatrical experience that reminds us of the enduring ties that bind us.

SEEKING:

  • Mother - Early 50’s to Mid 60’s, Black, female identifying. Smart and perceptive. Warm, but not a pushover. She has a gravity, and simultaneously, a weightlessness. She is fiercely committed to her son.
  • Son - Early 30’s to Mid 40’s, Black, male identifying. Sharp and quick-witted, with a dark sense of humor. He plays his cards close to his chest. He sometimes forgets to breathe.
  • Husband - Early 30’s to Mid 40’s, White, male identifying. Charming and deeply empathetic, but not soft. An advocate, always.
