SEEKING

Equity actors for roles in LOVE'S LABORS LOST and DR. FAUSTUS. All roles will be understudied. Our administrative structure and artistic practices have long been built on the principles of equity and inclusion, and we're leaders in creating a truly diverse ensemble of artists, and an equally diverse audience. Please prepare one 2-minute speech from Shakespeare or any poetic dramatic author. Please bring your headshot and resume stapled together.

PRINCESS OF FRANCE:

(Female, to play late 30s - 50s) Empathetic, self-possessed, intelligent, and glamorous.

ROSALINE:

(Female, to play 30s - early 40s) Part of the Princess’s entourage. Dazzlingly witty. Supremely confident. Not afraid of a bawdy joke.

MARIA:

(Female, to play 20s) Part of the Princess’s entourage. Sociable, fashionable, and playful.

KATHERINE:

(Female, to play 20s) Part of the Princess’s entourage. Sociable, fashionable, and playful.

JAQUENETTA:

(Female, to play 20s - 30s) A villager. Knowing, hardworking, and big-hearted.

MOTH:

(Any gender, to play 20s) Youthful and very smart right-hand to Don Armado. Must sing extremely well.

KING OF NAVARRE:

(Male, late 30s-50s) Perhaps a bit high on his own supply, but not a bad sort. He fancies himself a great intellect.

BEROWNE:

(Male, to play 30s - early 40s) Part of the King’s entourage. Very witty and a bit rebellious. When he falls in love, he falls hard.

DUMAINE:

(Male, to play 20s) Part of the King’s entourage. A bit clueless, but well-meaning.

LONGAVILLE:

(Male, to play 20s) Part of the King’s entourage. A bit clueless, but well-meaning.

DON ADRIANO DE ARMADO:

(Male, to play 30s-40s) A nobleman who thinks himself finer and more impressive than perhaps he is; he is completely in love with Jaquenetta, a young woman from the village.

HOLOFERNES:

(Any gender, to play Male, 30s-60s) A scholar who is prone to speaking in semi-incomprehensible Latin.

DR. FAUSTUS:

GENERAL ENSEMBLE:

There are 40 supporting roles in Dr. Faustus, and they will be played primarily by a small group of actors. All members of the ensemble will play different genders, human and non-human roles, and shape-shift from one thing to another throughout the performance. This production will be physical and highly energetic. High degree of skill on a musical instrument/singing is a plus.

MEPHASTOPHILIS:

(Any gender, any age): Seductive, omniscient, all-powerful. Capable of humor and disarmingly charming.
