In this beloved tale, we follow the adventures of a young man named d'Artagnan as he joins the king’s
Musketeer of the Guard. Joined by friends and fellow musketeers, Athos, Porthos and Aramis, they
must travel through the rustic landscapes of early 17th century England and France to protect the royal family they have sworn an oath to. Scandal, intrigue, romance, and good old fashioned sword- fighting can be expected in this swash-buckling adventure.
D'Artagnan: (Any Race or Ethnicity, Male Identifying, Age 18-25) – A young man eager for adventure,
excitement, and fulfilling his dream of becoming a Musketeer; athletic and handsome, spirited and
wild; he is at once impetuous and earnest; he transforms from an unsophisticated farm boy to a man
of character and strength.
Athos: (Any Race or Ethnicity, Male Identifying, Age 25-35) A courageous, legendary swordsman,
possessing the heart of a warrior and high principle. Also, a man with a past – regret haunts him.
Porthos: (Any Race or Ethnicity, Male Identifying, Age 25-35) The joker, bold, loud, flamboyant, vain,
snappy dresser, humorous, jolly, brave, strong, athletic. An unorthodox fighter who smiles in the face
of overwhelming odds.
Aramis: (Any Race or Ethnicity, Male Identifying, Age 25-35) Constantly trying to atone for his sins,
while continuously being tempted by the sin of flesh. Hot temper that flares in an instant.
Cardinal Richelieu: (Any Race or Ethnicity, Male Identifying, Age 40-55): The ultimate evil politician.
Technically subservient to the King of France, but has his own power base. Dark and manipulative.
Rochefort: (Any Race or Ethnicity, Male Identifying, Age 30+) Richelieu’s top henchman. Physically
scarred, with a distinct ruthlessness and dangerous ability.
King Louis XIII: (Any Race or Ethnicity, Male Identifying, Age 25-35): Naïve, child-like, entitled,
young, loves his Queen, but cannot quite reveal his truest feelings effectively; he is often subject to
manipulation by the Cardinal; however, Louis transforms from slightly befuddled ruler to competent
man of authority by play’s end.
Treville: (Any Race or Ethnicity, Male Identifying, Age 30+) Long-suffering leader of the musketeers
whose prayers for patience are constantly tested.
Sabine: (Any Race or Ethnicity, Female Identifying, Age 17-21) The younger sister of d’Artagnan. Feisty, bright, possesses great fighting ability, looking to embrace a world of adventure.
Countess ‘Milady’ De Winter: (Any Race or Ethnicity, Female Identifying, Age 25-40) Evil, beautiful,
brilliant, precise, calculating, treacherous, and a master of disguise. Driven by a dark thirst for
revenge.
Constance Bonacieux: (Any Race or Ethnicity, Female Identifying, Age 18-22) Queen Anne’s loyal,
virtuous Lady in Waiting. D’Artagnan’s love interest and the purest character in the play.
Queen Anne: (Any Race or Ethnicity, Female Identifying, Age 22-28): An unhappy queen, stuck in a
political marriage and in love with another. Likes the King, though, and will defend him against
Richelieu.
