[ELSA] 20s – Poised, regal and reserved, Queen Elsa of Arendelle lives in fear of her dangerous magical powers. In order to protect those she loves, especially her sister Anna, she closes herself off from the world and tries to suppress her ever-growing powers. Strong belter.
[ANNA] 20s – Optimistic, enthusiastic, quirky Princess of Arendelle. Naturally funny, more daring than graceful, she is courageously fearless. Her greatest flaw – and her greatest strength – is her faith in love. Strong belter with soprano/mix.
[OLAF] 20s – A big-voiced snowman created by Elsa’s magic, Olaf is pure innocence with an outgoing personality, big heart, and impeccable comic timing. Bari-tenor.
[KRISTOFF] 20s – A-rough-around-the-edges, handsome outdoorsman and ice-cutter who sells his product to the kingdom of Arendelle. An orphan, raised by the Hidden People, his best friend is Sven, a reindeer, for whom he provides a voice so they can have conversations. Anna’s mountaintop mission brings them closer together that leads them to falling in love. Baritone.
[HANS] 20s – an extremely handsome royal from a neighboring kingdom, Hans is the youngest of thirteen brothers which made him feel practically invisible - and Anna can relate. Smart and chivalrous, he is also cunning and keeps his true ambition hidden. Tenor.
[WESELTON] 50s – what he lacks in stature he makes up for in petulance. When he learns of Elsa’s secret, he tries to turn her own kingdom against her - anything that might help him exploit Arendelle’s tradable goods. Small in stature.
[PABBIE] (30s/50s) – Ageless, ancient, wise, charismatic and gentle patriarch of the Hidden Folk. Baritone.
[OAKEN] (40s) – Fun-loving, teddy-bear, family-man proprietor of Wandering Oaken’s Trading Post and Sauna. Excellent improv skills and comedic timing. Tenor.
[SVEN] - is a reindeer of few words, fiercely loyal pal to Kristoff, and loves giving the ice harvester a hard time. Look for a performer with good comic timing and terrific physical acting skills who can devise a strong movement vocabulary to bring this furry charmer to life.
ANASTASIA

Lyrics by Lynn Ahrens
Director: Sarah Hartmann
Choreographer: Bill Burns
Music Supervisor: Christopher Babbage
Rehearsals start: March 19, 2024

[ANYA] (mid 20s): When we first meet Anya she is a lost soul but with great strength, pride, and dignity. As the story progresses she begins to discover her sense of self and the possibility that she may be the missing daughter of Tsar Nicholas. Possesses a sense of humor, wit, and determined spirit. Her transformation into Anastasia should be breathtaking. Soprano with a very strong, controlled belt. Vocal range: A3-Eb4.
[DMITRY] (mid 20s – late 20s): An opportunist trying to make it on the streets of Russia by selling stolen objects from the Tsarist past. He is the prince of St. Petersburg’s black market. He creates the scheme to find an Anastasia impersonator in order to gain the reward for her safe return. He is smooth, persuasive and a real operator. Has a sense of danger, edginess, and charm. Not a typical romantic leading man although he and Anya eventually fall in love. Baritenor. Vocal range: A2-A4.
[DOWAGER EMPRESS] (late 50s – late 60s): She is the formidable and imperious grandmother of Anastasia. Anastasia is her favorite grandchild, and she loves her with all her heart. She never truly gives up the belief that her granddaughter might be alive but finally after years of enduring Anastasia pretenders she becomes hardened and bitter. It is only when she meets Anya that her old spirit begins to return. Has elegance, beauty, and a regal bearing. Alto, very comfortable singing. Vocal range: F3- Bb4.
[VLAD] (mid 40s - early 50s): Before the revolution, Vlad was a minor functionary at the imperial court. He is Dmitry’s right-hand man and because of his romantic relationship with Lily he arranges a meeting between Anya and the Dowager Empress. Has wit, style and is a character comedian with panache and generosity of spirit. He cares deeply for both Anya and Dmitry and doesn’t want either of them to get hurt. Baritone. Vocal range: A2-F4.
[GLEB] (mid 30s – early 40s): A member of the Chekist secret police. A zealot with tremendous intensity and a dangerous sexuality. As the play progresses, we see him rise in power and position within the political party. He is in love with Anya but would not be above killing her if necessary. Not the typical villain; he must be likable. Baritenor. Vocal range: A2-Gb4.
[LILY] mid 40s – early 50s): She is the Dowager Empress’s confidante/lady-in-waiting. She’s compassionate, respectful, and good at her job, but when she’s away from the Dowager she knows how to have a good time and rules the Russian expat roost. A character comedienne, but with allure and sex appeal. Strong movement or dance ability. Alto. Vocal range: Eb3-A4.
