Contract Dates: SEPT 23 – OCT 27, 2024.

Director: Janet Mitchko

Salary $818 a week plus housing and transportation.

Packed with witty wordplay, pop culture references, and a nod to Mel Brooks and Rocky Horror, five actors sink their teeth into dozens of roles in this fast-paced, laugh-out-loud reimagining of this gothic classic. We are looking for actors who make bold comic choices in the zany yet grounded style of “Young Frankenstein”. Facility and fun with dialects, especially British and various UK, is essential.

SEEKING:

DRACULA: male 30-40’s. Any ethnicity. (Transylvanian dialect) Hugely sexy, magnetically handsome, rock star presence with a great body, he is a narcissist whose greatest love is himself — and his leather pants. Bored with women falling all over him, he becomes obsessed with Lucy when he hears of her strength and adventurousness. The less she needs him, the more interested he is.

TRACK ONE: HARKER/SUITORS/BOSUN/GRAVEDIGGER: Male 30’s-40’s, Any ethnicity. JONATHAN HARKER: (RP British dialect) Prim, proper and fear based, he follows the rules of life and does his best to stay away from anything dangerous. Engaged to Lucy and a bit out of his league. Real estate agent to Dracula. Once bitten he loosens up and becomes a Tom Jones style rock star in leather pants . LORD CAVENDISH: Lucy's (Scottish dialect) suitor; LORD WINDSOR: (RP British dialect) Lucy's posh, British suitor; LORD HAVEMERCY: (Elvis dialect) Lucy's arrogant suitor from Memphis. BOSUN: (Irish dialect) A scurvy seaman who goes down with the ship in a storm. GRAVEDIGGER: (Cockney dialect) A drunk gravedigger with a secret.

TRACK TWO: DR. WESTFELDT/RENFIELD/CAPTAIN/DR. WESTFELDT: Male 40’s-60. Any Ethnicity. (RP British dialect), Lucy and Mina's Father, a self-important misogynist blowhard given to proclamations – think Harvey Korman type. A doctor as well as recent widower, he runs a home rehabilitating the criminally insane. RENFIELD: (Cockney dialect and salivary issues) A mentally insane patient of Dr. Westfeldt who is learning how to be a butler and obsessively loves to eat bugs. CAPTAIN: (Sea Captain dialect) The salty captain of a doomed ship caught in a raging storm.

TRACK THREE: LUCY/KITTY: Female 30’s. Any ethnicity. LUCY WESTFELDT: (RP British dialect) Intelligent, plucky, earth scientist daughter of Dr. Westfeldt, she is filled with the spirit of adventure and often underestimated because of her beauty. Engaged to Jonathan, but she is intrigued by Dracula’s bold nature and similar interests. KITTY: (Cockney dialect): A dotty kleptomaniac patient of Dr. Westfeldt's who serves as a maid in his house. Think a servile and easily distracted Mrs. Lovett.

TRACK FOUR: MINA/VAN HELSING/DRIVER: Male 40-60. Any ethnicity. MINA WESTFELDT: (RP British dialect) the less attractive, less intelligent Westfeldt daughter, she lives in her sister Lucy' s shadow and is desperate for attention. She is pathetically receptive to Dracula's charms . DR. VAN HELSING: (German dialect a la Mel Brooks): Strong, shmart, unt bold, she is a brilliant and sturdy German vampire hunting doctor from the University of Schmutz. Deadly serious in the way Germans can be, she is accustomed to people not believing she is a real doctor and determined to prove them wrong. DRIVER: (Eastern European or Russian dialect) A male Transylvanian carriage driver taking Jonathan to Dracula's castle. Borat meets Boris and Natasha .
