Equity actors for roles in The New Orleans Shakespeare Festival at Tulane 2023 Season (see breakdown).

PREPARATION

Visit the website for Twelfth Night monologues to prepare. For Romeo and Juliet, please prepare 14 lines of verse from a Shakespeare play. If auditioning for both productions, please prepare both. We are also accepting video submissions. Please see the website for guidelines. Deadline to submit video auditions is Thursday, February 23 at 5:00pm.

BREAKDOWN

Equity encourages everyone participating in the auditions to wear a two-ply cloth face mask, surgical mask, singer’s mask or respirator (N95, KN95 or KF94). Single-ply face masks, gaiters and bandanas are not recommended. Singer’s masks can be found at www.broadwayreliefproject.com/singersmask.

Equity encourages members to prepare for their audition prior to arriving at the audition venue, to the extent that they can (e.g., get dressed, hair/make-up, etc.) to avoid crowding in bathrooms and dressing rooms.

ORSINIO - the Duke and Count of Illyria, a young man deeply and agonizingly in love with Olivia. 30s

VIOLA - a young woman who is separated in a shipwreck from her twin brother and disguises herself as a male when she washes ashore in Illyria. Supremely clever and smart. 20s-30s

SEBASTIAN - Olivia's twin brother. A kind young fella who falls into a lot of good luck and precarious situations. 20s-30s.

OLIVIA - a countess in deep mourning for her dead brother who falls quickly for the disguised Viola, thinking she is a young man. 30s-40s.

MALVOLIO - a preening and humorless servant to Olivia who also happens to be deeply in love with her despite their caste differences. Any age.

TOBY BELCH - the jolly and drunk uncle to Olivia. 40s-60s

MARIA - a saucy working woman in the house of Olivia who has a loving relationship with Toby. 40s 60s
