Eva Peron: Mezzo with a strong, high belt; Low E below middle C to high G. Female identifying, 18+
to play ages 15 to 33; an actress turned wife and ambitious political partner of Argentina President,
Juan Peron. Star presence. A chameleon. Powerful, manipulative, charismatic, feminine, sensual, and
stoic. Has a wide range of emotion – and vocal stamina. Moves/dances and is a master singer.
Che Guevara: Charismatic rock tenor – Low Bb to high Bb to F5 in falsetto. Male identifying, 30s. A
passionate, revolutionary figure. Che is the narrator and formidable antagonist to Eva Peron. Has
powerful command, physical stamina and vocal endurance.
Juan Peron: Low A to high F#. Male identifying, 40s-50s; a prominent officer who becomes the
President of Argentina; Stately, charismatic and charming; Warm and sympathetic to chilly and
threatening. Legit baritone with a powerful voice.
Magaldi: High baritone or tenor – Middle C to high G. Male identifying, 35-45. A tango singer and
Eva’s first love interest. A sense of used car salesman to him. Doubles as ensemble. Moves very well.
Mistress: high mix/belt; Low A to E. Female identifying, 18+ to play 16-20; an innocent-looking young
woman; has a sweet sounding high mix; Doubles as ensemble;
Ensemble: 20s – 50s. Excellent triple threats. Singers who move extremely well or dance to play
portray various characters in the show as well as cover principal tracks. Seeking a wide range of
ethnicities. Must be great singer actors with power, command and dramatic range.
Disco Donna- Female identifying, Donna Summer in her late teens and 20s, riding the wave of her
skyrocketing career from Boston to Germany, to the discotheques of Los Angeles and Manhattan. She
is charismatic and strong as she navigates this world for the first time.
Adult Mary Ellen- Female identifying, Much like her younger counterpart, she supports Donna when her sister needs her most.
Neil Bogart/Gunter- Male identifying, A dual-cast role. As Neil: The head of Casablanca Records and
Donna's mentor. Works hard and parties harder. Late 30s. As Gunther: Donna's German boyfriend.
Handsome and charming, but with a darker edge. 30s.
Diva Donna/Mary Gaines- Female identifying, Donna Summer in her 50s at the pinnacle of her
career. She is warm and wise. She has lived a life and is our emcee for the evening. Mary Gaines,
Donna's mother.
Duckling Donna/Mimi Sudano- Female identifying, Donna Summer as a pre-teen, trying to find her
voice amid a large Boston family. She has gumption, and yet is also fragile. Mimi, Donna's oldest
daughter.
Adult Dara- Female identifying, Compassionate. Helps Donna during one of her darkest times.
Andrew Gaines- Male identifying, Donna's father. Ex-military. Has stern exterior but loves his children
more than anything. 40s.
Joyce Bogart- Female identifying, Neil Bogart's business-savvy wife. One of Donna's few friends in
the industry.
Bruce Sudano- Male identifying, Bass player for Brooklyn Dreams and Donna's eventual husband.
Steadfast, supportive, bright and witty. Late 30s/early 40s.

Francie & Others: Female identifying, 20-37 Fabulous, versatile singer and dancer with flexible vocal
register, Doubles as a variety of roles (Frankie’s teenage daughter, the many girlfriends of The Four
Seasons, etc); should fit well together a la 60s band Shangri-las and be believable as ‘tough-as-nails’
Jersey girls; comfortable with traditional four-part harmonies and have a very strong high belt.
Three Men: Male identifying, 20-59 Strong singers, Doubles as various roles (friends, producers, etc);
one track requires a baritone or baritenor voice down to a strong low G (low E a big plus); another
track includes playing guitar; a third track includes playing drums or, possibly, both guitar and drums.

Tevye- Male identifying, 45 to 60 Vocal range: F5 - Ab2. A likable, hard-working, pious man who sees
the positive side of life. Strong patriarch but gentle father of 5 daughters he has raised according to
the Scriptures. He is humorous and relaxed, but when pushed, can show stubbornness and rage.
Carries the show and has a good connection with the audience.
Golde- Female identifying, 40 to 50 Vocal range: Eb5 - A3. Tevye’s wife is the real strength behind
Tevye, the one who keeps the household going. She is very concerned that her daughters make good
matches and have easier lives than she & Tevye have had. Good comic timing.
Yente- Female identifying, 50 to 60 Vocal range: F5 - F3. The matchmaker, middle-aged widow who
matches up the young people of the village in the hopes that they will marry. She is the village
busybody and knows all the news of the town. She is a comedian.
Lazar Wolf- Male identifying 40 to 50 Vocal range: F#4 - C3. the butcher. He’s the town’s wealthiest
citizen & is the same age, if not older, than Tevye. He wants to marry, by traditional parental
agreement, Tevye’s daughter, Tzeitel. Promising to give her a good & secure life. A feisty, comic.
Tzeitel- Female identifying 18 to 25 Vocal range: D5 - B3. She’s the first daughter to marry and the
first to challenge the traditions. She has a desperate crying scene with Tevye when faced with
marrying Lazar Wolf instead of Motel, who she really loves.
Motel- Male identifying 18 to 25 Vocal range: F#4 - E3. a rather meek & poor tailor who seeks the
hand of Tzeitel, and comes into his own in the process! He is a terrific character having a sensitive,
nervous but loveable portrayal.
Hodel- Female identifying 18 to 23 Vocal range: E5 - B3. The 2nd eldest daughter. She becomes
intrigued with the radical, young student, Perchik. She eventually leaves Anatevka to join him in
Siberia where he is imprisoned for his reform activities. Hodel sings a haunting solo as she says
goodbye to her father at the train station.
Perchik- Male identifying 20 to 30 Vocal range: E4 - B2 the student. He is a visitor to Anatevka, and
therefore, an outsider. He brings with him radical new ideas that challenge the traditions. He falls for
Hodel. Shows intensity and an unfailing commitment to his beliefs.
Chava- Female identifying 15 to 20 Vocal range: D5 - B3. She is the scholarly 3rd eldest daughter
who loves to read. She falls in love and runs off with Fyedka, a Russian soldier, and breaks her
father’s heart. Performs an emotional dance.
Fyedka- Male identifying 20 to 25 He’s a strong young soldier, sees past his military obligations and
falls in love with Chava. He challenges Tevye’s imposed silence towards him. Fyedka has a solo in “To
Life” and dances a Russian dance with his fellow soldiers.
Shprintze & Bielke- Female identifying 8 to 13 Vocal range: D5 - B3 The two youngest daughters of
Tevye & Golde. They take lessons at home from Perchik & appear in several scenes with some
speaking lines.
The Constable- Male identifying 35 to 45 This Russian military official stationed near Anatevka, knows
the villagers well, and even likes some of them, particularly Tevye. But these superficial relationships
don’t prevent him from carrying out violence against the people. This is a non-singing role.
The Rabbi- Male identifying 40 to 70 Anatevka’s Jewish spiritual leader.
Mendel- Male identifying 16 to 25 The Rabbi’s son. He is uncertain of the presence of Perchik in the
village.
Mordcha- Male identifying Age: 30 to 70 Runs the bar in town and is a friend of Tevye.
Avram- Male identifying Age: 40 to 60 Vocal range: Eb4 - D3 Runs the bookshop in town and keeps
the town advised of all of the news in the area.
Grandma Tzeitel- Female identifying 60 to 75 Vocal range: D5 - C#4 Grandma Tzeitel is a ghost
figure who appears in the Dream Scene and has a wonderful solo, endorsing the marriage of Tzeitel to
Motel.
Fruma-Sarah- Gender: Female identifying 35 to 45 Vocal range: Eb5 - C4 is a ghost figure who
appears in the Dream Scene. She portrays Lazar Wolf’s departed wife & becomes enraged that her
husband plans on marrying Tzeitel. A strong singer to carry a challenging solo.
Nachum- Gender: Male Age: 30 to 70 The town beggar. Chorus songs
Yussel- Male identifying 30 to 70 The town Hatter.
Shandel- Female identifying 40 to 70 The mother of Motel
Sasha & Boris- Male identifying 18 to 30 Fyedka’s Russian friends & fellow soldiers.
Priest- Male identifying Age: 30 to 70 Christian spiritual leader. Doubles as a villager.
Ensemble: Villagers, Russians & Dancers, Gender: ALL Age: 8 to 80 These chorus members will
portray the people of the village as either Papas, Mamas, Sons or Daughters. Also, Russian soldiers
and featured dancers.
Usnavi De La Vega: Male identifying: Charismatic leading man with tremendous heart. Baritone with
very strong, clear rap narrative skills. 24 year old owner of De La Vega’s Bodega, his parents
emigrated from the Dominican Republic and have since passed away. He lives with Abuela Claudia
(Grandmother Claudia), who isn’t actually his grandmother but they are as close as family. Usnavi is in
love with Vanessa and remains the eyes and ears of his Washington Heights neighborhood.
Nina Rosario: Female identifying. 19 year old Nina has just finished her freshman year at Stanford
University. She is the daughter of Kevin and Camila Rosario. Nina is the only member of her family
and friends who made it to college. She is best friends with Vanessa and a beacon of hope and
inspiration to all who know her; she represents the opportunity outside of “the Heights.”
Kevin Rosario: Male Identifying. hard exterior; baritone. In his forties and owner of Rosario Car and
Limousine, Kevin is a husband to Camila and father to Nina. While Kevin was born and raised in
Arecibo, Puerto Rico, he immigrated to New York City with Camila. Kevin immediately started working
to provide a better life for his newly-arrived family. Is stubborn, hot tempered at times and can be quick
to act without thoughts of repercussions.
Camilla Rosario: Female Identifying. no-nonsense; strong-willed; Mezzo range Also in her forties, she
is the co-owner of Rosario Car and Limousine with her husband Kevin. Also from Arecibo, Puerto
Rico, she fell in love with Kevin at 19 and immigrated with him to New York City. She is cool-headed
yet keeps a subtle but strong leash on Kevin. Her daughter Nina has just returned for the summer
from her first year at Stanford.
Benny: Male Identifying. hardworking, good guy; Bari-tenor; moves well. Now a 24 year old cab driver
for Rosario Car and Limousine, he once was a street punk and hoodlum, often finding himself in
trouble. Kevin saw promise in Benny and helped shape him into a responsible, hard-working young
man. Benny has enormous respect for Kevin and sees him as a father figure. Eventually falling in love
with Nina, Benny sees a future for them by becoming a businessman. He and Usnavi are best friends.
Vanessa: Female Identifying. beautiful, strong high belt; great dancer. A 19 year old shampoo girl at
Daniela’s Salon, Vanessa is strong, intelligent and grew up with Benny and Usnavi. Though Usnavi
would like to be something more than Vanessa’s “friend”, he has never made any attempt. Vanessa
dreams of leaving to create her own life away from her alcoholic mother.
Sonny: Male identifying. strong mover / rap skills. 15 years old and Usnavi’s cousin, Sonny is
spending the summer working for Usnavi at the bodega. He usually hangs out on the street with his
friend Graffiti Pete but avoids trouble. He is an extremely intelligent young man who strives to emulate
Usnavi. To solve the social and economic problems of the city, he is someone that needs guidance or
risks ending up a street punk.
Abuela Claudia: Female identifying. Alto belt - showstopper number. In her late 60’s, she raised
Usnavi after his parents passed away and continues to live with him. She emigrated from Cuba when
she was very young. Of all the characters, Abuela Claudia has been in “The Heights” the longest. She
struggled to learn English, struggled to find work and in turn has helped others who have followed in
her path. She is clearly the matriarch of the neighborhood.
Daniela: Female identifying. tough on the surface, compassionate underneath; good belt; good dance.
In her thirties, she is the owner of Daniela’s Salon. Savvy to say the least, she is quick witted, brassy
and outspoken. While she retains a motherly relationship with Vanessa, she remains the gossip queen
of the neighborhood. No-nonsense, she has built a successful business but is being forced out the
neighborhood because of the rent hikes.
Carla: Female identifying. innocent; good comedienne; strong dance. In her mid-twenties, she is a
hairdresser at Daniela’s salon. Born and raised in Queens, she is a pure, sweet, innocent and loving
young woman who is devoted to her family and friends though she is easily taken advantage of
because of her naivety. She and Daniela are best friends.
Graffiti Pete: Male identifying. sings; very strong dancer; acrobatics a plus. An 18-year old graffiti
artist and the nemesis of Usnavi, he is always hanging out on the streets, dancing to his boombox
music, spraying any surface he can. Usnavi is unhappy that Sonny and Graffiti Pete are friends
because Graffiti Pete epitomizes everything that Usnavi hopes that Sonny will not grow up to be.
Piragua Guy: Male identifying. tenor, strong singer, good hearted. In his mid-thirties, he walks the hot and humid streets of Washington Heights selling piraguas (flavored ice shavings) to earn a living. He
represents the rhythm of the islands in the big city.
Ensemble: Residents of Washington Heights, men and women.
