The Nowlin Rehearsal Studio is on the South side of the Zach campus.

Seeking
Equity and non-Equity male and female actors.

Preparation
All actors should prepare two contrasting, contemporary monologues, not to exceed 3 minutes in length. Standard British accents are encouraged but not required. Knowledge of sign language is a plus, but not required.

First Rehearsal December 28, 2015; Tech Rehearsals Begin January 19, 2016; First Preview January 27; Press Opening January 30; Champagne Opening February 4; Closing February 28, 2016.

Breakdown

As the only deaf member of his sharp-tongued British family, sweet-natured Billy has spent much of his life feeling out of place. But when he meets a young woman on the brink of deafness, he finds out what it means to belong for the first time. This provocative and touching play is as much about the tyranny of language, as it is about the challenge of not being able to hear it.

Principal Roles:
CHRISTOPHER: (Male, 50s-60s) Billy’s father.
DANIEL: (Male, 20s/early 30s) Billy’s brother. The oldest child. A year or two older than Ruth.
RUTH: (Female, 20s/early 30s) Billy’s sister. The middle child. A year or two older than Billy.
SYLVIA: (Female, 20s/early 30s) Billy’s girlfriend. Going deaf.

Note: The roles of BILLY and BETH (Billy's mother) have already been cast.
