[ARIEL]
Female, late 20's to mid-30's. Clever, comedic, physically precise spirit of the island. A devoted worker who vacillates between compassion and resentment for Prospero. Clear language and confident movement skills. Must be a strong singer, preferably pop/indie style. ACTORS OF ALL ETHNICITIES STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO SUBMIT.

[CALIBAN]
Female, early 30's to early 40's. Pragmatic but hot-tempered creature. Earthy, grounded, delights in the natural world. Capable of both activating and hiding her rage. A saboteur and trickster in how she exacts revenge. Strong language skills. ACTORS OF ALL ETHNICITIES STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO SUBMIT.

[MIRANDA]
Female, late teens to early 20's. Intelligent, idealistic, sincere. Sees the good in people, but won't back down from a fight. Strong comedic timing and language skills, with depth of sincerity and vulnerability. ACTORS OF ALL ETHNICITIES STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO SUBMIT.

[FERDINAND]
Female, late teens to early 20's. A confident, flirtatious child of royalty. A deep sense of grief and duty after the loss of her mother. Strong comedic timing and language skills. May lean genderqueer. ACTORS OF ALL ETHNICITIES STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO SUBMIT.

[STEFANO]
Female, 30's to 40's. A drunk clown with ambitions to be queen. Friendly, generous, good-humored. Improvisation and physical comedy skills.

[ANTONIO]
Female, 40's to 50's. Competitive, clever, a sharp-tongued sense of humor. Prospero's sister and rival. Very persuasive when she wants to be. ACTORS OF ALL ETHNICITIES STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO SUBMIT.

STORYLINE:
An all-female adaptation of Shakespeare's TEMPEST re-imagined as a fever-dream from a surgical oncology ward in Pittsburgh.
