SEEKING:

MRS. K:
Female, Caucasian. An older woman of Western European descent. The unassuming, warm, older woman next door. A woman who would have been a wonderful grandmother but, who never became a mother in her own right. Widowed and retired--she is the perfect storm of lonesome and chatty. Her memory is fading--perhaps out of old age, perhaps out of necessity. Low key, content with a normal existence.

MARY FIELDS:
Female, 30’s. A young woman of any ethnicity. She has successfully assimilated into the dominant culture. In dress, voice, manner, she is impeccable. She fits in. Patient, respectful, dutiful. Does the right thing. Also plays STUDENT 1/PARENT A/STUDENT C.

MICHAEL:
Male, 30’s. A young man of indeterminate ethnicity. Perhaps a mix of different races, he would be the kind of person whose ethnicity is impossible to pinpoint. Unlike MARY, he has not assimilated; he carries an aura of otherness. He does not fit in anywhere. He has never felt--anywhere--a sense that he truly belongs. Former child prodigy, haunted by his childhood. Capable, focused, and disillusioned with suburbia, MICHAEL is bent on exposing the truth. Also plays STUDENT 2/PARENT B/STUDENT D.

BOTH ROLES HAVE ALREADY BEEN CAST, AUDITIONS FOR REPLACEMENT AND UNDERSTUDIES ONLY.

SHARON:
Role CAST. Female, 54. Any ethnicity, mid-late 50s. Mid-western, warm, and disarmingly open. Has lived a narrow fairly conformist life, and in the wake of her divorce has resigned herself to an equally unobtrusive loneliness. A misfit at heart who has never actually felt at home in Midwestern domesticity. Ferociously curious, funny, and not without surprising edge. Has never had a roommate before. Plays it safe.

ROBYN:
Role CAST. Female, 56. Caucasian. Urban, gritty, aloof but charismatic. A loner whose walls are high and whose secrets are large. Lives by her own rules. Longs to leave the past behind, settle down, and start over. Used to live in The Bronx. Risk taker. Vegan. Trying to start again.
