SEEKING:

THE PHANTOM: 30s – 40s. Needs a dynamic, bravura, “star” performance, with excellent acting and singing ability. The Phantom is both frightening and irresistible. High baritone or tenor (with a strong low range) with a contemporary sound. Able to sustain from low A flat to high A flat, with ease in full voice and high C# in falsetto.

CHRISTINE DAAE: 18 – mid 20s. A beautiful lyric soprano voice that combines elements of classical and musical theatre singing. Sings G below middle C to high E. Christine is initially a part of the Corps de Ballet at the Opera Populaire within the show. NOTE: Some dance training is an advantage but not a requirement.

RAOUL, VICOMTE de CHAGNY: Late 20s – early 30s: dashing, handsome young aristocrat. Contemporary high baritone/tenor (2 octave range from A flat to A flat).

ANDRE & FIRMIN: Late 30s – 50ish. The Managers of the Paris Opera House. Trying to be elegant, they are slightly befuddled. Have good instincts for stylish comedy. Firmin is the hard money man, a boor. Andre is charming with an artistic temperament, a dilettante. Firmin is a baritone and sings to high E/F. Andre is a baritenor with a lyric quality and sings to high G with ease.

CARLOTTA GIUDICELLI: 30s – 40s. The prima donna of The Paris Opera. The archetypal diva in every sense of the word. Strong operatic singer with a good comic sense. Italian coloratura soprano who sings to high E.

MADAME GIRY: Late 30s – early 50s. Ballet Mistress of the Opera Populaire. An enigmatic, stern, forbidding figure. Mezzo soprano to high B flat.

MEG GIRY: Late teens – early 20s. A member of the Corps de Ballet and Madame Giry’s daughter. Has strong classical dance technique and excellent pointe work. Vocally a sweet, light soprano sound with secure mix. The Act One septet requires her to sing to G5.

UBALDO PIANGI: Late 30s – 40s. Archetypal, Italian operatic leading tenor. Companion to Carlotta within the Opera Populaire. Sings to legit high C.
