BREAKDOWN
WILLUM - Male. 35-45. A Vietnam vet turned architect. Warm and appealing, though indecisive and to a frustrating fault, and at a standstill in life. In love with TANSY, but too afraid of commitment to stop her from moving to another city for work.
RICK - Male. 35-45. WILLUM’s Vietnam war buddy. The “nerd.” Odd, outlandish and outrageous. Socially inept.
AXEL - Male. 35-45. WILLUM’s best friend. A theater critic. Intelligent and witty, with an acerbic sense of humor. Beneath the barbs, a very good friend.
TANSY - Female. 35-45. WILLUM’s nearest and dearest. A weather forecaster on the brink of a move to DC.
WALDGRAVE - Male. 45-55. A new client of WILLUM’s, and a self-made millionaire. A pompous real estate tycoon.
CLELIA - Female. 35-45. WALDGRAVE’s wife. Frustrated and repressed – she carries around saucers to smash at will in order to avoid meltdowns.
STORYLINE:
Willum’s birthday party gets a jolt of hilarious excitement when Rick Steadman, a fellow ex-soldier who saved Willum's life, stops by for a visit. When he realizes that Rick is socially inept and will overstay his welcome with a vengeance, Willum must put together an outrageous plan to rid himself of this wacky GI who came to dinner. A rollicking farce from the author of the award-winning comedy The Foreigner.
