BREAKDOWN

Equity encourages everyone participating in the auditions to wear a two-ply cloth face mask, surgical
mask, singer’s mask or respirator (N95, KN95 or KF94). Single-ply face masks, gaiters and bandanas
are not recommended. Singer’s masks can be found at www.broadwayreliefproject.com/singersmask.
Equity encourages members to prepare for their audition prior to arriving at the audition venue, to the
extent that they can (e.g., get dressed, hair/make-up, etc.) to avoid crowding in bathrooms and
dressing rooms.

Holding/Audition room information:

The audition room can accommodate no more than 52 individuals at a time.

SEEKING:

[SÀNGÓ] Male (cis, trans, or non-binary), 40s to 50s, Black. God of Thunder. His hotheadedness
leads to challenging Zeus’ power and eventually Demi’s birth. When his debt to Zeus plays a part in
Demi’s demise, he is overcome with grief and relief.

[MODÚPÉ] Female (cis, trans, or non-binary), 30s to 40s, Black. Mother of Demi. A beautiful and
strong woman whose past manifests in a grounded nature and ability to feel emotions to her core.
Willing to sacrifice her life over her love of Demi.

[DEMI] Male (cis, trans, or non-binary), early to mid 20s, B-iracial (Black and white). The Half-God of
Rainfall. Grows to become very athletic and a basketball pro. Strong and full of morals yet has an
emotional vulnerability and wears his heart on his sleeve. Familiarity with basketball a plus.

[ZEUS] Male (cis, trans, or non-binary), 40s to 50s, white. Father of Demi. God of the Sky and King of
the Gods. A strong physical presence that’s powerful. He isn’t afraid to abuse his dominance to feed
his desire and ambition.

[ELEGBA] Female (cis, trans, or non-binary), mid 40s to 50s, bi-racial (Black and white). Trickster
God, Guardian of Crossroads, and Narrator of our piece. Takes Demi on a journey to show his power
over Zeus and sets him on his future path.

[OSÚN] Female (cis, trans, or non-binary), 30s to 40s, Black. The wife of Sángó and River Goddess.
Her strength brings power to her voice and calls out of injustice. Becomes a spiritual guide in
Modúpé‘s life and offers to pour herself into Modúpe for a battle against Zeus.

[HERA] Female (cis, trans, or non-binary), 30s to 50s, white. The wife of Zeus and Greek Queen
Goddess of marriage and birth. Although appears meek, she’s very smart and resourceful. Her
annoyance over her husband’s alpha-masculinity allows her to root for Demi’s greatness. Appears to
Demi and convinces him to beg for Zeus’ forgiveness.
