Breakdown

ONE MALE ACTOR (to play early-mid 30s)
TO COVER THE FOLLOWING ROLES:

SAM: 35. Amiable and a bit rudderless, a high-school graduate still living with his parents. With shaved head and beat-up Red Sox cap, he’s the kind of guy who was probably into Heavy Metal for a time, but isn’t so much anymore. He’s hopelessly in love with ROSE, but far too intimidated to share his feelings.

SKYLAR: 26. Male. The new hire. An untroubled young man who’s good at his job and probably has his own small passion for the movies. Also plays MAN, a drowsy movie patron.

ONE MALE ACTOR to play 20s
TO COVER THE FOLLOWING ROLE:

AVERY: 20. African-American. Male. Educated son of a semiotics professor at a local liberal arts college. A movie geek obsessed with preserving 35mm film projection (as opposed to digital).

ONE FEMALE ACTOR to play 20s
TO COVER THE FOLLOWING ROLE:

ROSE: 24. A projectionist. Sexually magnetic, despite the fact that (or partly because?) her clothes are baggy, she never wears make-up, her hair is dyed forest green, and, while not unfriendly, she’s adept at keeping the others at a comfortable distance. Avery arouses in her a personal and sexual curiosity.
