BREAKDOWN
DIANE
(Lead): Female 40’s-50’s - She is the narrator of the piece. At first, she is the most personable and rational of the four inhabitants of the house, and then turns into the most ruthless. Complex, smart, author, usually a rule-follower, would choose science over religion, lonely, slightly judgmental, insomniac, has a grown daughter, full of pain, fear, and doubt, but covers it well.
NAT
(Lead): Male 40's-50's Even in the desperate attempt to survive and the suffocating atmosphere of the house, he retains a certain charisma and sex appeal. Seems like a nice man, a coward at times and an adventurer at other times, has an "ignorance is bliss" philosophy, sense of playfulness and charm although equally as afraid and cautious as Diane. Both a father figure and enigmatic love interest.
