Breakdown
SYNOPSIS: Hunger Games meets Ayn Rand in this rollicking sci-fi musical about a revolt of the young against an evil state. In a world where individuality is illegal, Prometheus abandons everything to confront the State -- led by his own mother, Pandora. Prometheus falls in love with the beautiful rebel leader Athena. Together they fight to overthrow the system.
SEEKING:
PROMETHEUS
late teens-20s male, strong rock tenor. A dreamer and a thinker, disagreeable to authority. Becomes the leader of the teenage rebellion.
ATHENA
late teens-20s female, belter, mezzo-soprano/soprano. A tough talking, fierce warrior princess, she is true to her ideals.
HERA
late teens-20s female, contralto/mezzo-soprano. Obedient and bright eyed, she begins her journey as a good girl, but spirals into wickedness after being scorned.
PANDORA
30s-mid 40s female, powerhouse voice and a powerhouse woman. Prometheus's mother, she is the leader of the totalitarian regime, often ruthless in her actions, but redeems herself through her innate maternal instincts.
TIBERIUS
30s-late 40s male, baritone or bass/baritone. The villain. Second in command of the totalitarian regime, he is a schemer and will stop at nothing to become the ruler.
THE EXECUTIONER
20s-40s male, any vocal range. The ultimate henchman. The Executioner is strong and muscular, special skills a plus, including bullwhip, body building, martial arts, poi, and arm balancing.
HERMES and others
mid 20s-early 30s male, any vocal range. Character actor, Pandora’s right hand man. Strong physical theater/movement theater skills a plus.
TITUS THE TRANSGRESSOR and others
male of any age, baritone/low tenor. The original rebel leader, comes back as various other characters.
PERICLES and others
late teens-20s male, the devout sidekick to Athena. Strong dance background and aerial skills necessary. Any vocal range.
BERENICE and others
late teens-late 20s female. Awesome; in love with herself. Very vain; a go-getter. Also plays student, guard, and teenage rebel. Technical dance training is a must (ballet, jazz, modern). Aerial skills a plus (silks, lyra, and rope), circus skills encouraged, but not required, such as arm balancing, juggling, diablo, and poi. Any vocal range.
HELION and others
late teens-late 20s male. Outgoing but with a chip on his shoulder. Also plays student, guard, and teenage rebel. Technical dance training is a must (ballet, jazz, modern). Aerial skills a plus (silks, lyra, and rope), circus skills encouraged, but not required, such as arm balancing, juggling, diablo, and poi. Any vocal range.
AMBROSIA and others
late teens-late 20s female. Creative and very flighty. Also plays student, guard, and teenage rebel. Technical dance training is a must (ballet, jazz, modern). Aerial skills a must (silks, lyra, and rope), circus skills encouraged, but not required, such as arm balancing, juggling, diablo, and poi. Any vocal range.
CALISTA and others
late teen-late 20s female. Feisty but a bit of a tomboy. Also plays student, guard, and teenage rebel. Technical dance training is a must (ballet, jazz, modern). Aerial skills a must (silks, lyra, and rope), circus skills encouraged, but not required, such as arm balancing, juggling, diablo, and poi.
