New musical based on the life of Aimee Semple McPherson, the world's first media superstar evangelist whose passion for saving souls equaled her passion for making headlines. KENNETH ORMISTON / MCPHERSON:
30’s-40’s. [KENNETH ORMISTON] Married sound engineer, hired by Aimee to produce her radio show, with whom she was accused of having an affair during her controversial kidnapping trial. Soaring baritenor to G/A-flat. [MAC] Aimee’s second husband. A salesman. A kind, simple man. Truly loves Aimee, but after feeling ignored while she travels the country, he eventually divorces her. Mac is non-speaking.
MINNIE KENNEDY:
Late 40s-50s. Aimee’s mother (had her when she was very young). God-fearing, restrictive, and judgmental during Aimee’s formative years, Minnie eventually comes to understand and support her daughter in the path she’s chosen to honor God. Worked for the Salvation Army before joining in her daughter’s cross-country travels. Headstrong and independent in her own way. Mezzo with HIGH belt.
EMMA JO:
30s-50s, African American. A former Madame of a brothel, this no-nonsense lady befriends Aimee Semple McPherson. As a friend and confidante, Emma Jo joins Aimee to travel the country preaching the Gospel. At many of these revivals, Emma Jo leads the choir with rousing Gospel songs. Gospel singer from low D and belts up to a high E.
JAMES/BROTHER BOB:
One actor will play both roles (40’s-50’s). Should be able to switch easily between Baritone and Tenor qualities - should feel comfortable with high A-flat.

AIMEE SEMPLE McPHERSON:
CAST. Charismatic, spirited, strong-willed and capable woman. Based on the real figure in early 20th-Century history. The first female Pentecostal evangelist, and founder of the Foursquare Gospel Church. Beloved but controversial, she spent most of her life traveling the country with her mother and children, preaching at revival meetings, and welcoming with open arms any kind of sinner who wanted to embrace God. Possesses a natural warmth and generosity of spirit. Later in her life, becomes embroiled in controversy surrounding an alleged kidnapping.
ROBERT SEMPLE / DAVID HUTTON:
CAST. [ROBERT SEMPLE] Aimee’s first husband. Fiery Irish evangelist. Passionate, yet sincere in both his devotion to God and Aimee. Dies of malaria while preaching in Hong Kong. [DAVID HUTTON] Very attractive. Is playing Adam in an ‘Adam and Eve’ skit in Aimee’s church when she first meets him. Charming. Betrays Aimee only a week after he marries her by using her celebrity status to advance his own career.
