Please bring a picture and resume, STAPLED TOGETHER.

Breakdown
Young playwright Richard Collier has an encounter with a mysterious old woman on the opening night of his earliest success; she entreats him, to his bewilderment, to “come back to me.” Several years later, with his life and career in disarray, he seeks quiet and contemplation and checks in to a storied hotel from his youth. But his stay at the hotel turns into the journey of a lifetime as he unravels history—and time—to discover a powerful but perhaps impossible love.

ENSEMBLE
Please note that everyone in the ensemble will play multiple roles, and they all must be strong singers and good actors. Also, many members of the ensemble will need to be very strong dancers with good partnering skills, and ballet training/experience is a plus
Ensemble Man 1 /(Robert) – early to mid 40’s. Robert is Richard’s older brother. He is serious and strong, and pushes Richard to take his illness seriously. Strong singer/actor. C' to F''
Ensemble Man 2 /(Matheson) – 40’s or older. Matheson is a British scientist who wrote a book about time travel that Richard uses in his quest. He should feel a bit mad, strange, and very passionate. Must be comfortable with movement, and be very strong singer/actor. A' to E''
Ensemble Man 3 (Desk Clerk) – any age, strong dancer. The snooty desk clerk at the Grand hotel. Good sense of comedy needed. Tenor
Ensemble Man 4 (Director) – any age, character man, strong dancer. He plays a young George M Cohan, who is staging the play Elise is starring in. High Baritone
Ensemble Man 5 (Photographer) – any age, strong dancer. The enthusiastic photographer at the Grand Hotel. He loves his camera, and loves taking pictures. Good sense of comedy a plus. Tenor
Ensemble Man 6 (Stage Manager) – any age, very strong dancer. This actor will play many small roles, and will be a featured dancer. Extremely strong dance ability is most important for this track. High Baritone
Ensemble Woman 1 (Older Elise, Miss Sally) – ideally would read in her 70’s or 80’s, but could be younger. Still beautiful. Older Elise only appears at the beginning of the show, when she shows up at an opening of one of Richard’s plays in 1966 and gives him a watch. She has been searching for him for over 50 years. Miss Sally is a mysterious fortune teller who is the wardrobe mistress for Robinson’s company in 1912. This role requires a strong, mature actress and singer. Alto
Ensemble Woman 2 (Older Laura) – ideally would read in her 70’s, but could be younger. Older Laura was Elise’s assistant and dear friend in 1912. She has written books about Elise, and is the keeper of her memory. This role requires a very strong actress who feels a bit delicate and frail in her major scene as Older Laura, but will also be able to play multiple other roles and middle aged characters. Alto
Ensemble Woman 3 (Laura) – early 20’s, good actress and very strong dancer. Elise’s young and enthusiastic assistant. Soprano
Ensemble Woman 4 (Band Singer) – 20’s, strong singer with a good period sound, also very strong dancer. The Band Singer sings the title song at a dance in 1912, so someone with strength and panache as a performer is necessary. A' to F''
Ensemble Woman 5 (Librarian) – late 20’s – 30’s, very strong dancer, actress with good sense of comedy. This track can be a bit charactery, the librarian is a comedic character who keeps hitting on Richard, and who he keeps ignoring, prompting sarcastic quips. Alto
Ensemble Woman 6 (Young Actress) – 20’s or 30’s, very strong dancer. This actress will play multiple small roles, and will be a featured dancer. Extremely strong dance ability is the most important quality for this track. Soprano
