Equity encourages members to prepare for their audition prior to arriving at the audition venue, to the extent that they can (e.g., get dressed, hair/make-up, etc.) to avoid crowding in bathrooms and dressing rooms.

ALTERNATE LIST: If all audition appointments are taken, an Alternate List for Equity members will be started the afternoon of the appointment. Members will be required to show proof of membership in order to add their name to the Alternate List. Equity members on the Alternate List will be seen if time permits. NO UNOFFICIAL LISTS WILL BE ACCEPTED. Sign-ups for the Alternate List will begin at 12:30pm on 2/21 and 10:00am on 2/22.
VIDEO SUBMISSIONS: In lieu of travelling for in person auditions, video submissions will be accepted. Please record yourself in landscape mode (horizontal). Make sure you are well it and there are not any distracting sounds in the background. Please slate with your name and home city and please provide a full body shot. Record (2) contrasting 16 bar cuts of a modern musical theater songs in the style of the show you are auditioning for. You may also include a monologue not to exceed 1 minute. Please attach your video as a YouTube or Vimeo link – any submissions requiring downloading will not be accepted. Email your submission to PFitzwater@slowburntheatre.org and put 23-24 VIDEO SUBMISSON in the subject line. In addition to your submission link, please include the shows/roles you are available for and attach a headshot and resume. You may also include links to reels of personal websites. Jack: Male Identifying/ Any Ethnicity, Age: Early 20s, Vocal range top: G4, Vocal range bottom: B2, The feckless Giant killer who is ‘almost a man.’ He is adventurous, naive, energetic, and bright eyed.
Jack’s Mother: Female Identifying/ Any Ethnicity, Age: 50 to 65, Vocal range top: Gb5, Vocal renge bottom: Bb3, Browbeating and weary, Jack’s protective mother who is independent , bold and strong-willed.
The Baker: Male Identifying/ Any Ethnicity, Age: 35 to 45, Vocal range top: G4, Vocal range bottom: Ab2, A harried and insecure baker who is simple and loving, yet protective of his family. He wants his wife to be happy and is willing to do anything to ensure her happiness but refuses to let others fight his battles.
The Baker’s Wife: Female Identifying/ Any Ethnicity, Age 35 to 45, Vocal range top: G5, Vocal range bottom: F3, Determined and bright woman who wishes to be a mother. She leads a simple yet satisfying life and is very low maintenance yet proactive in her endeavors.
Cinderella’s Stepmother: Female Identifying, Age: 40-50/ Any Ethnicity, Vocal range top: F#5, Vocal range bottom: A3, The mean-spirited, demanding stepmother of Cinderella.
Florinda and Lucinda: Female Identifying/ Any Ethnicity, Age 25 to 35, Vocal range top: Ab5, Vocal range bottom: C4, Cinderella’s stepsisters who are bleak of heart. They follow in their mother’s footsteps of abusing Cinderella.
Little Red Riding Hood: Female Identifying/ Any Ethnicity, Age 15- 20, Vocal range top: F5, Vocal range bottom: Bb3, A spoiled young girl who is strong-willed, quick-witted, fearless, yet youthful and naive.
The Witch: Female Identifying/ Any Ethnicity, Age 45 to 55, Vocal range top: G5, Vocal range bottom: F3, Sarcastic, ugly-then-gorgeous, obsessive protector of Rapunzel who is straightforward and aggressive.
Cinderella’s Mother: Female Identifying/ Any Ethnicity, Age 40 to 55, Vocal range top: F4, Vocal range bottom: E4, Deceased with her soul guarding and aiding her daughter from a tree.
Mysterious Man: Male/ Any Ethnicity, Age: 50 to 65, Vocal range top: Eb4, Vocal range bottom: G2, A mischievous vagrant and nosy meddler. He is a good-natured protector and observer.
Wolf (Double’s as Cinderella’s Prince): Male Identifying/ Any Ethnicity, Age: 30 -35, Hungry and insatiable hunter who takes advantage of the weak by misleading and captivating his prey.
Rapunzel: Female Identifying/ Any Ethnicity, Age: 20 to 30, Vocal range top: A5, Vocal range bottom: B3, A loopy-but - lovely maiden who is sheltered by a witch and terribly lonely. She yearns to experience the world.
Cinderella’s Prince (Double as Wolf): Male Identifying/Any Ethnicity, Age: 30 to 40, Vocal range top: F4, Vocal range bottom: B2, Vain and gorgeous, he is a disloyal lover who is currently searching for the next new, exciting thing.
Rapunzel’s Prince: Male Identifying/ Any Ethnicity, Vocal range top: E4, Vocal range bottom: C#3, Just as vain and gorgeous as his prince brother, he is always chasing the newest, most exciting endeavor.
Milky White: Searching for a puppeteer, Jack’s beloved cow who is as white as milk. One of the four objects needed to break the Witch’s curse. Has puppetry skills. No solo singing.
Giant: Female Identifying/ Any Ethnicity, Age: 40 to 60, Voiceover. The Giant’s wife is an angry and vengeful ‘monster.’ She is seeking restitution for her loss.

Ariel: Female Identifying/ Any Ethnicity, Age: 16-25, Vocal range top: Gb5, Vocal range bottom: Ab, A mermaid and King Triton’s youngest daughter. She is obsessed with everything about the human world, and dreams of becoming a part of life above the water. Hardheaded, naive, and emotional, but also kindhearted.
Prince Eric: Male Identifying/ Any Ethnicity, Age: 20-30, Vocal Range top: G4, Vocal range bottom: B2, A human monarch who has no interest in taking the crown. A handsome, affable lad with a buoyant, adventurous nature. After Ariel saves his life, he becomes obsessed with finding her and hearing her voice once more.
Grimsby: Male Identifying/ Any Ethnicity, Age 40-60, Vocal range top: C4, Vocal range bottom: C3, Prince Eric’s British guardian. Droll, stuffy, and constantly urging Eric towards his royal duties, specifically marriage.
Flounder: Male-Identifying/ Any Ethnicity, Age 10 to 15, Vocal range top: G4, Vocal range bottom: A2, A fish and smitten with Ariel, his best friend. Rambunctious but cautious, fearful of the dangers that lurk in and above the water.
Scuttle: Male-Identifying/ Any Ethnicity, Age: 25-40, Vocal range top: G4, Vocal range bottom: C3, A disheveled seagull and expert in human artifacts. Loudmouthed, optimistic, and a bit ignorant, despite his supposed expertise. A good tapper.
King Triton: Male-Identifying/ Any Ethnicity, Age: 35 to 45, Vocal range top: F4, Vocal range bottom: Ab2, King of the Sea and Ariel’s father. Beneath his imposing presence and commanding nature lurks a harried single father who will do anything to protect his daughters. The death of his wife has also given him an irrational fear of humans.
Sebastian: Male Identifying/ Any Ethnicity, Age: 30 to 45, Vocal range top: C5, Vocal range bottom: Bb2, A crab and advisor to King Triton. A musical virtuoso who is constantly distraught from keeping after Ariel. Despite his paranoia, he can’t bring himself to stand in Ariel’s way.
Flotsam: Male Identifying/ Any Ethnicity, Age: 20 to 40, Vocal range top: C5, Vocal range bottom: E3, An eel and one of Ursula’s lackeys. Oily and spineless, he will say anything you want or need to hear. Puppeteer experience.
Jetsam: Male-Identifying/ Any Ethnicity, Age: 20-40, Vocal range top: A4, Vocal range bottom: B2, An eel and one of Ursula’s lackeys. Oily and spineless, he will say anything you want or need to hear. Puppeteer Experience
Ursula: Female-Identifying/ Any Ethnicity, Age: 35 to 45, Vocal range top: C5, Vocal range bottom: Eb3, The banished Sea Witch and sister of King Triton. Supposedly spurned at childhood, she will use whatever method necessary to steal the kingdom and claim it as her own. Malevolent, calculating, and deceptive.
Chef Louis: Male Identifying/ Any Ethnicity, Age: 30 to 50, Vocal range top: A4, Vocal range bottom: Bb2, The French palace chef, diabolical and violent. A culinary perfectionist with an affinity for blades, seafood in particular.
Ensemble: (Singers, Dancers and Actors) Crew members (Pilot, Sailors); Sea Creatures; Mersisters (Auata, Andrina, Arista, Atina, Adella, Allana); Gulls; Maids; Chefs; Animals; Princesses.

Deloris Van Cartier: Female Identifying Black / African Descent, Age: 25 to 35, Vocal range top: F#5, Vocal range bottom: E3, An inspiring performer, trying to find both fame and a place in the world. When forced to hide in the convent, she initially refuses to embrace her new lifestyle but learns to embrace it when she works with the choir. Loud-mouthed and sassy, but ultimately caring.
Mother Superior: Female Identifying/ Any Ethnicity, Age: 50 to 70, Vocal range top: E5, Vocal range bottom: D3, The head of the convent, sarcastic and a bit stiff. Extremely protective about keeping her sisters away from the outside world, which puts her in direct opposition to Deloris and her musical teachings.
Sister Mary Robert: Female Identifying /Any Ethnicity, Age: 16 to 25, Vocal range top: A5, Vocal range bottom: F#3, A postulant, abandoned as a baby and raised at the convent. Shy and soft-spoken but singing with Deloris lets her find her voice. Her wallflower lifestyle has made her live a shell of a life.
Sister Mary Patrick: Female Identifying/ Any Ethnicity, Age: 35 to 50, A nun of the convent. Consistently perky, enthusiastic, and easily excitable.
Sister Mary Lazarus: Female Identifying/ Any Ethnicity, Age: 50 to 70, Vocal range top: B4, Vocal range bottom: F3, A nun of the convent and the head of the choir. Rather deadpan and the least welcoming of any of the nuns, but she gets caught up in Deloris’s soul music.
Monsignor O’Hara: Male Identifying/ Any Ethnicity, Age: 45 to 60, Vocal range top: G4, Vocal range bottom: E3, One of the heads of the convent. Constantly concerned with financial matters, though soul music surprisingly puts him in a different mood.
Curtis: Male Identifying Black/African Descent, Age: 30 to 40, Vocal range top: Ab4, Vocal range bottom: A2, A club owner, notorious gangster, and Deloris’ boyfriend. Cocky and controlling, always on the verge of violence.
Eddie Souther: Male Identifying Black/ African Descent, Age: 25 to 35, Vocal range top: B4, Vocal range bottom: Ab2, The desk chief at the Philadelphia police station and a high school classmate of Deloris who helps get her into hiding. Faces a lot of nerves when under pressure, causing him to sweat profusely. He still yearns for Deloris after all these years, and dreams of being her hero.
TJ: Male Identifying Black /African Descent, Age: 16 to 30, Vocal range top: Eb5, Vocal range bottom: Db3, Curtis’s nephew and one of his thugs. Deft and cognizant of the fact, constantly in a state of ignorant bliss.
Joey: Male-Identifying, Age: 30 - 40, Vocal range top: Eb5, Vocal range bottom: Bb2, One of Curtis’s thugs. Believes himself to be quite the ladies’ man.
Pablo: Male-Identifying Latino/Hispanic, Age: 25 to 40, Vocal range top: F5, Vocal range bottom: C4, One of Cutis’s thugs. A natural follower, constantly speaks in Spanish.
Sister Mary Martin-of-tours: Female/ Any Ethnicity, Age: 40 to 60, A nun of the convent. Clearly in her own world but has her moments of surprising clarity.
Sister Mary Theresa: Female Identifying/ Any Ethnicity, Age: 60 to 70, A nun of the convent, the oldest of the group. Decrepit at a glance, but secretly packs a punch.
Michelle: Female Identifying Black/African Descent, Age: 20 to 30, Vocal range top: F5, Vocal range bottom: Bb3, One of Deloris’s back-up singers. Lippy and always quick with retort.
Tina: Female Identifying/ Any Ethnicity, Age: 20-30, Vocal range top: F5, Vocal range bottom: Ab3, One of Deloris’s back up singers. Naive
Ernie: Male Identifying, Age: 25 to 35, One of Curtis’s thugs. Initially thought to be a mindless yes-man, he turns out to be an undercover police informant.
Ensemble: Nuns; Bar Denziens (Bar Patron, Waitress, Pool Player, Drag Queen); homeless People; Fantasy dancers.

Barry Glickman: Any ethnicity, 30s-50s, High Baritone/Low Tenor a very gay Broadway star. Completely politically incorrect and doesn’t know it. Impulsive and loves to make a scene everywhere he goes. Strong singer. Big, Broadway belter.
Dee Dee Allen: Any ethnicity, 30s-50s, Alto. A current Broadway diva. A huge ego to match her huge talent. No filter. Hilariously self-involved but yearns to do something good for someone other than herself. Strong Singer. Big, Broadway belter.
Trent Oliver: Any ethnicity, 30-40s, Baritone. A pretentious Broadway star who is probably better known for TV infomercials. Loves the sound of his own voice. Strong singer pop and legit.
Emma: Any ethnicity, 18+ to play high school senior. Mix/belt up to a C#. Forced into the spotlight because she asked her girlfriend to the prom. A reluctant poster child for gay/lesbian youth. Very smart, A bit of a tomboy quality. Sweet pop voice. Strong singer
Alyssa: Any ethnicity, 18+ to play a high school senior, Mix/belt up to a D. Tries desperately to fit in. A cheerleader. Secretly Emma’s girlfriend, but afraid to come out. Afraid to stand up to her mother. Pop voice. Strong singer
Mr. Hawkins: Any ethnicity, 30s-50s, High Baritone. A small-town principal easily flustered, straight laced. A Broadway enthusiast. Good singer.
Angie: Any ethnicity, 30s-40s, Alto with a belt. An ensemble member in the Broadway production of “Chicago”. Jaded Fosse girl with a heart of gold. Strong singer
Mrs. Greene: Any ethnicity, 30s-40s, Alto. Alyssa’s Mother and the school board president. Very strong, controlling and intimidating. Loves her daughter very much but has a very specific view of what is right and wrong for her daughter and the school. Strong singer.
Sheldon Saperstein: Any ethnicity, 30s-40s, Baritone. A charismatic press agent. Traditional musical theatre sound.
ENSEMBLE: Male and female, 18+ to play high school students, PTA members, reporters etc. all ethnicities. Seeking outstanding singer/dancers trained in various forms of dance, especially hip hop that must sing VERY well and be able to portray various characters in the ensemble. Please note all roles MUST be great contemporary singers as well as strong mover/dancers since many may also understudy leads. There are no dance-only tracks in this production.
