PREPARATION: 16-32 Bars of an upbeat musical theatre song.
DON LOCKWOOD (Male 30-45; G2-Ab4; Strong dancer) A suave Hollywood actor and dancer. Cosmo’s best friend and Lina’s regular co-star.
COSMO BROWN (Male 30-45; C3-Ab4; Strong dancer) A wacky and playful on-set pianist for silent films. Don’s best friend and former dance partner.
KATHY SELDEN (Female 20-30; G3-F5; Strong dancer) An earnest, talented actress with whit and charm. She falls in love with Don and performs as Lina’s speaking and singing voice.
LINA LAMONT (Female 25-35; C4-Eb5) A slow-witted silent film diva with a big personality and a harshly unpleasant voice. She is Don’s regular co-star.
MISS DINSMORE (Female 45-55; Speaking role) Lina’s vocal coach. She is the “mother hen” type with caring affection for the younger performers.
VOCAL COACH (Male 30-55; Speaking role; Strong dancer) Don’s vocal coach. Taps in Moses Supposes dance break.
DORA BAILEY (Female 45-55; Speaking role) Radio personality who reports on the Hollywood News and gossip
