Equity encourages everyone participating in the auditions to wear a two-ply cloth face mask, surgical mask, singer’s mask or respirator (N95, KN95 or KF94). Single-ply face masks, gaiters and bandanas are not recommended. Singer’s masks can be found at www.broadwayreliefproject.com/singersmask.
Equity encourages members to prepare for their audition prior to arriving at the audition venue, to the extent that they can (e.g., get dressed, hair/make-up, etc.) to avoid crowding in bathrooms and dressing rooms.
Holding/Audition room information:
The audition room can accommodate no more than 80 individuals at a time.
The holding room can accommodate no more than 150 individuals at a time.
Please bring a printed, single page resume with a printed headshot 4 corner stapled to the back of the resume. Prepare two, 90-second contrasting monologues. For example, one 90-second comedic and one 90second dramatic.

Next Act Theatre produces Four productions per season. Each production has three weeks of rehearsal, six days of tech with two previews, and four weeks of performances totaling 7 weeks of employment and 27 performances.

Thyme is fifteen, an A student, and three months’ pregnant. She lives with her parents, Marjorie and Ollie, in their Harlem apartment along with her new husband, eighteen-year-old Erry, the father of her child. Thyme is a bookworm, and her obsessive topics of the moment are childbirth (she wants to deliver in water) and the environment. Thyme is bossy with Erry, an innocent presence, who was recently hired as a construction worker, and wit.

After a local woman is murdered, the guests and staff at Monkswell Manor find themselves stranded during a snowstorm. It soon becomes clear that the killer is among them, and the seven strangers grow increasingly suspicious of one another. A police detective, arriving on skis, interrogates the suspects: the newlyweds running the house; a spinster with a curious background; an architect who seems better equipped to be a chef; a retired Army major; a strange little man who claims his car has overturned in a drift; and a jurist who makes life miserable for everyone. When a second murder takes place, tensions and fears escalate.

The Treasurer-Ida Armstrong is broke, lonely, and fading fast. And she’s spending all of her children’s money, forcing her son to assume the unwanted role of The Treasurer: an arrangement that becomes untenable the more he questions his devotion to her. This darkly funny, sharply intimate portrait chronicles the strained ties between a son and his aging mother, and the hell of a guilty conscience.
